I loved, loved, loved living in Truckee in the 80’s. Nowadays, I enjoy watching the live cam in ‘downtown’ Truckee. Summers gathering wood and winters shoveling snow and skiing. Nothing better than mountain living. If it is snowing too hard to get to work, no one else can get to work either. You get there when you get there. Locals are always prepared. Only Flatlanders don’t know what to do. ❤ ⛄️

Believe it or not, they go out driving around. I'm a snow removal guy and it pisses me off. They get stuck right in front of me. I have to pull them out so I can keep going. Makes it hard to keep up with heavy snow storms.

Yes, when its raining hard and only a few degrees over freezing in western California like this morning, you know the Sierras are about to be slammed again. I wonder how those people are faring from the videos where they were running out of supplies, trying to find space for the snow they were trying to shovel off their roof, and already had a 10 foot deep trench through the snow to get out their front door, or had snow drifting over their 20' high deck-before this round of snow! One guy had the peak of his roof all that was left showing of his house above the snow. I hope everyone can safely ride out the storms. It looks like they will need helicopter deliveries and rescues for people stuck under unimaginable snow in some areas after this pauses! It sounds like yet more may be on the way.

We hear news reports of 2 feet of snow "causing mayhem" back east all the time. This is 46 feet of snow for the year - and still snowing!!! Three feet fell overnight. No, Buffalo is NOTHING like this. (Per Google: "These extremes go back to 1893. Since then, the record amount of snow to fall in one day at Buffalo is 33.9 inches (86.1 centimetres) on December 10, 1995." Whereas on Echo Summit, south of Lake Tahoe, "67-Inches of snow in 24-hours on January 4th-5th, 1982. Second heaviest USA 24-hour snowfall on record." The record for Donner Pass is 68 feet in the winter 1937/38 since 1878.)
