However "Chama cha Mapinduzi" and "Ujamaa" are much much more recent to Africa, than "Ubuntu" and "Sankofa." "Chama cha Mapinduzi" and "Ujamaa" are actually specific to Tanzania in East Africa, which neighbours Kenya, where I am from. Before 1964, Tanzania (officially known as the United Republic of Tanzania), was two separate countries, namely Tanganyika and Zanzibar (Zanzibar is an archipelago of islands). Tanganyika attained independence in 1961, and Zanzibar attained independence in 1963. Zanzibar was a British Protectorate from 1890 to 1963. Mainland Tanzania/Tanganyika, was a German Protectorate between 1891 and 1918, and was known as German East Africa between 1891 and 1918. Germany lost World War I of 1914 to 1918, and at the Treaty of Versailles of 28th June 1919, German East Africa was handed to Belgium and Britain to administer of behalf the League of Nations (what we today know as the United Nations). The League of Nations existed from 1920 to 1946, and was replaced by the United Nations (UN) in 1946. In central-east Africa where I come from, the first western missionaries couldn’t baptize anyone unless they accepted to carry a new name chosen from a list of white names (whose bearers were also called saints in Roman Catholic Church) while African names were called pagan names or names of satanists. The tradition still exist in all over Africa today, while in the West no single white carries African names not even those of our soccer stars, musicians or respected intellectuals and statemen. The key aspect of Christianity is being Spirit led. That is why the Bible says, "God is Spirit and those who worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in truth. He on the other hand is arguing materialistic and physical aspects of religion maybe correctly so because there are false prophets, teachers even early missionaries who use such to decieve many people especially Africans. However materialistic and physical things do not essentially define Christianity. For example he mentions a white Jesus but any mature Christian who studied the Scripture will know the pictures of the white Jesus are Catholic creation and do not necessarily align with the identity of Jesus Christ and yet in Christianity there is neither Jew, Greek nor Gentile, neither black or white because we are led by the Spirit who sees us as one.

Ernest, That's a very good question, "what if it's a familiar spirit?". If you are led by the Holy Spirit, you will know if its Him or not. Jesus Christ says, "My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: - John 10:27 We are also commended to first test the spirit to see if its from God in 1 John 4:1. It is therefore important to have the gift of discernment of the spirit and that gift is by the Holy Spirit. My personal experience is that you also need to be rooted on the Word of God. When a spirit directs you to do something, you simply check if that is consistent with the Word of God and if it's not consistent with the Word then you know it's familiar spirits. The Holy Spirit will never contradict the Word of God.

I must say, though I don't endorse all of what was said by this man, he does have a point. It is neither godly nor Christlike to totally disregard the cultural norms of any society especially in our evangelistic outlook. I've come to understand that human beings, like trees, need roots to live and thrive and all around Africa, particularly South Africa where I live, people without a familial connection to the past are hopeless. They're like zombies completely unaware or uninterested in their surroundings unless it involves some whetting of the carnal appetites. Just look at the youth raised in large cities, for example. Unable to look forward into the future because they have no awareness of the rich history of their own past, they're stumped by a colossal undertaking akin to having to reinvent the wheel: the creation of a new identity. I Was preparing to give birth, yes and I believe the obstetrician or the delivery nurse (not sure which one to call them) was prompting me and checking me and preparing me to push. I felt her physically examine me and wasn't nervous but had my eyes closed and was preparing to breathe and focus on a particular method to prepare for my birth process. The head nurse or doctor told her I was not ready and they went back and forth as the delivery nurse continued to prepare me and felt the outside of my stomach and still made preparations. I remember I was calm, focused on my breath, and prepared for the birth an entry of this child, but it wasn't time. The lead nurse or doctor kept saying that it wasn't ready. 2020 has been one of the most challenging yet phenomenal years ever experienced for myself and many others. I am here to say that some of you as did/do I have visions to birth and the process is almost finalized. Be prepared for the more and stay encouraged and hold on just a while longer.
