Thanks for this video . I was to do it for my dads truck it was so bad for him he clip lights shining towards the dashboard to see the gauges. Now its lit up green and he is so stoked . Thanks again

I used the purple ones and it gives it a nice low key grey/brown color, with a hint of purple around the rim of the spedo and rpm. Went purple on the mileage too but white would work, use the stock bulb if you go this route or the mileage will be way too bright without the green film like the rest has. I tried blue and it only made it a more lime green, way too bright. Blue in the center console shifter makes it look like tropical water though.

@@albertgamez8132 I tried blue and got a bright lime green..switched to purple and liked it alot more. Like I said just don't swap the mileage bulb because their is no filter on it and it will be too bright.

Why would you not use white led’s or any other color? Green has just been boring for the past five decades.
@AaronsAutomotive4 жыл бұрын
I did use white. Ford is stupid with there cluster in putting a green film in between, and too lazy to pull that all apart
@nilesable4 жыл бұрын
It's the same reason night vision goggles and scopes are green filtered for decades. Your eyes can register green better then other colors so you actually glance at the instruments for a shorter period of time,therefore your eyes go back to the road faster. Plus green reduces the time it takes for your eyes adjust from bright to dark and dark to bright.

How dumb is this comment.... notice the red was also brighter from the same bulb.

Going through the process of removing the colouring on my 2004 Lariat cluster that I swapped into my truck, current plan is to leave mine white with red needles using LED's from the same source.
@Divinesavage5023 жыл бұрын
That’s kinda what I want that or white light with blue needles. Did you ever try it out? If so could you leave link for bulbs
@toddsonic3 жыл бұрын
I can't post the picture here but I do like how it turned out. Changing the needles would require getting clear/white needles which would have to come from a wrecked Lincoln Mark LT due to the combination of lengths required, watching for but haven't found a suitable and economical candidate to get them from yet. I got my LED's from a seller on Amazon, WLJH. There are others but I've had the best experience with the ones they have.
@toddsonic3 жыл бұрын
I forgot to mention it would require a additional step, the needles are red but also there is red coloring in the cluster overlay, it may require cutting-removing that red area to make the change. The factory lighting is incandescent white turned red by the red.

Yes, as Jd Dm said, LED bulbs are polarity sensitive, mean they need to be in a specific orientation for them to light up. I apologize for the late reply as I'm very busy with work and life, and KZbin is more just a side project for some fun.

Tip dont pull from the windshield side or you will break off those clips. He skipped this step an now one of mine is broken..thanks dude. Show the whole thing next tine will ya?
@AaronsAutomotive3 жыл бұрын
Or yours was just shit, never had an issue pulling from the "windshield" side, just a plastic clip, and sometimes they get brittle with age.
@TonicofSonic3 жыл бұрын
@@AaronsAutomotive Allow me to elaborate. The top clips pull out straight towards the driver, so of you pull up on the back, shit or not, they will snap off. This would have been obvious if you hasn't skimmed past the angle of pull and clips as well as the entire removal of that whole piece. I only lost one, no big deal a little double sided tape should fix any rattle. What I dont understand is why KZbin videos always skip right past steps like you did in this video. All the hard work for such an awesome videos only to leave out removing the largest piece. Its so common it should be a meme at this point.

My apologies, often time guys like me, knowable about vehicles and they way they are put together and forget to show the small things like how they are clipped in. Also, I apologize for the attitude. @AaronsAutomotive2 жыл бұрын
Where you at? I'd love to bring you my truck. Lol, it's a work truck for me, once a month I drag out all the trash, give it a quick vacuum, and a fast/dirty baby wipe wipe down on the coffee stains, door panels and steering wheel, only so much I can care about when I've spent 12 hours in a diesels engine bay and just want to go home. That said, once a year I do take it to an auto detailer for a deep clean. He pulls the seat to clean, scrubs and shampoos the carpet, steam cleans everything he can.
