I have no experience about driving I’m an adult with an L plate. I’m scared of driving because when I was teenager and wanted to learn about driving a car, I hit the car when doing reverse and got traumatised never want to learn again thinking I could get into an accident, that’s why it took so long to decide to learn driving again and so I decided to watch how to drive and found this channel! And I have watched your ‘How to Pass’ videos over and over again until I understand and remember them and put it into practice until the day of my driving test! Pass first go! And yes I choose 11am for the test and the traffic was pretty quiet so made me less nervous! Less challenging but we all want to pass first! All I can say is that watching your videos saved me lots of money (only booked about 10 paid lessons with a driving school and the rest practice with my husband on his free time which is almost rare) and took me a total of 3 to 4 months, saved me time! If I don’t watch your how to Pass videos, It’d would easily taken me maybe a year. Cos I’m quite slow. I’m still beginner and need more and more practice to be the high experience driver! Close to getting my green Ps yet I still watch your vids. I remember during my test I had traffic and the instructor took me through an unsealed road. There was a car parking in front of me and he told me to go around. Luckily I remembered to just treat it as a normal lane change and performed normal headchecks.

Dont worry. Alot of people say the testing is hard there, but it really isnt. They dont even really talk to you and they just let you think instead of talking every 5 seconds. If you have practiced, genuienly dont worry. I know I was up all night scared shitless that im going to fail, but I reflect on that and wondered why I was even stressed. Even if you fail, you dont even have to wait that long. Dont stress about it - you will do completely fine.

Hi Jimbo, I'm currently teaching my daughter and it's been a lengthy exercise mainly because she forgets things like head checks and simple things, and one I'm sure you've experienced, instead of listening to instructions she tries to think ahead of me. How do I avoid becomming a nagger?

Yes great question Fred. Teaching young people with all their quirks is not an exact science. I often get students such as your daughter who seem to be on auto pilot and not good at listening first. Sometimes when I am explaining the way to do something, the student keeps trying to finish my sentences only for them to get it wrong and me to finish with the correct thing. It kind of gets a bit awkward at times. There could be many reasons why this happens. Students with conditions such as diagnosed ADHD often are not good at focusing on things that just are not interesting. And driver training is just not interesting. You could try and make your explanations more interesting/colourful and particularly as brief as possible.

@@thedrivingtestguynsw8424 Hey Jimbo, thanks. Have you ever considered a career in psychology as you have hit the nail right on the head? My daughter has a concentration problem. She has had councelling but they've never really nailed it to any specific ailment, but I can see now that it does affect her driving lessons. I will try to be a little more patient. Just on the emphasis students put on the reverse park, my daughter had a real aversion to even trying this. We're fortunate to live in a rural area so I put a couple of PA speaker stands in the boot and we went out to an isolated back street that wasn't even paved. We did about half an hour of reversing around the stands. Then in the same lesson she had the confidence to back around parked cars, and she nailed it. One thing that helped was your video and the fact that I told her that if she followed the exact instructions that it was impossible to hit the parked car. Thanks again!

Hey Jimbo, just had a question I hope you don't mind answering. My test is tomorrow and I've had an instructor for the past week. He tells me whenever you are turning left you blindspot check your left 3 seconds before the turn and then just before the turn and one blindspot check on the right just before you make the turn. In your videos, you said if you know there isn't room for another car to come from the left when you are turning left at an intersection, you don't need to do a blindspot check. Are the left headchecks necessary? One three seconds before and then one before the turn? Cheers.

You don't need to check every left turn just when there is room for a car. The right turn check is not marked. No one at Gregory Hills for example knows about that check.

Hey mate is my driving instructor gonna get me to do a reverse 60 degree park plus the three the point turn or is it a parallel park and three point turn and a curb side stop, ive practiced quite a bit but i can get a bit nervous when parking and find i can either do a great park in the lines or an average park not quite in the lines at times

Hi dude. In NSW you are asked to do a Kerbside Stop plus either Reverse Park or 3 Point Turn. The reverse park is usually a Parallel Park. In some regional areas you may be asked to do a 45 deg angle park instead of a parallel park.

Your not taking into consideration that there are so many people wanting to do driving tests that they can be fully booked even if 100% of students pass 1STGO. So they make more money per booking if a student passes so that's why it's in their interest to fill each booking with a 1STGO pass instead of a fail.

Hi Luis if you have been driving a motorcycle for a while one good thing is that you would be more aware of other driver hazards. However you might have got a bit slack with some of the road rules. I would suggest you brush up on them. My How to Pass videos will help you with that. Also you need to work on manoeuvres. Also learn and be good at all the necessary head checks.

Hello JMck yes if you are rejecting gaps that are viable then it's not so much being "too careful" it's more your gap selection skill needs to be improved. Practice busy intersections to get better by recognizing gaps that are viable and getting more confidence. You can ask your instructor to focus on this more however a good instructor shouldn't need you to ask but already working on it.

You can’t tell if someone has vaped most of the time so if you do it beforehand and out of site you should be okay, but I’d assume if you hit it in front of the instructor he’ll at least judge you for it I think or they could just fail you there and then

hey jimbo, you give some really good advice, i got my test in 2 weeks at Botany at 1pm and im nervous as hell. i just got one question, can you use the hand over hand steering or the push pull method? will it be a fail if you dont use either or? also, any tips for Botany? thanks

You can use either. Any other steering method may not be ok ie palming with one hand.I have a video on steering check it out. I have no info on Botany other than lots of my viewers have passed their. Be good at traffic decision and the associated head checks. As I say in my video if you can get yourself prepared to the Top Level then you should pass it 1STGO... hopefully 🙂

Hello Extort. Sorry to hear you didn't park. It's rare that parking is a fail. What fail items were marked on the left side of the sheet? How many NO (circle) scores did you get ?

I've failed twice and I'm starting to think it's impossible to pass. I've watched all your videos, and done training with instructors, and even after all that, I'm still unable to pass. It's always something new that happens every time. With the instructor, it was simple things like head checks and signal timing. Watching your videos, I was able to completely fix these issues. In my first test, it was a positioning error from a bad habit taught by the driving instructor. I told the instructor about it later and they got really defensive and stopped talking to me. In the second test (just did it today), everything was perfect, except a bus pulled out on an 80km/h highway and apparently I didn't slow down to 40. Apparently the bus had lights on and was flashing, which I find really sad considering I don't even remember seeing this bus. All I remember was I was driving continously at 60, staying around 20km/h under the speed limit of everyone else AT ALL TIMES. No one else must have slowed down in this situation, causing me to not realize this... That's the only explanation I have. I find it really harsh that everything I'm failing on are not common reasons to fail. Most people fail for not doing their headchecks, positioning errors, signal issues, speed issues. I'm having none of these. I got 25 in positioning and decision, and 24 for speed (except for the one fail). I've always taken pride in my ability to drive, but this has really impacted me... I still feel confident, I still know I'm a good driver, but 2 fails... I don't know what I'm doing wrong here :( P.S. I've been watching your videos since before my 1st attempt. I've always seen the comments you've written and how you plug your cool license plate into every comment, "Congratulations on passing *1STGO* " hehe. I wanted to be one of those people but looks like I'll be 3RDGO lol Edit: I did my test at Silverwater btw

Hi Quertie sorry to hear you didn't pass. You sound like you are taking your preparation serious and that's a good thing. Best advice is to book again and give it another go. In the mean time get some experience with busy traffic and it's randomness. For the test maybe try a quieter time where less things can go wrong. Best of luck and thanks for watching 😃

@@qwertiee it took my mate 3 times to pass, one for a lady doing an illegal turn, one for speeding accidentally and another for a car pulling out in front of him. But he got it, passed and now has his license, he just kept going. If he failed he just booked it again. Don’t let it get you down, just imagine how happy you’ll be when you pass :)

bro I feel you, I failed the first time just before entering the service centre at Revesby. Absolutely crushed me. 2nd time at roselands for turning left from the right lane apparently (as I don't remember doing it). All 2 times were done with a driving instructor. Got my 3rd time booked at roselands again but this time in my family's car.

Having 3 levels of difficulty is extremely silly. The examiners should factor these into their scoring. Having said that, the fact the examiners don't factor in real driving is exactly why we have more accidents on our roads

Its not the intention to have 3 levels of difficulty. Its just the nature of tests at different times with different traffic. Passing a driving test whether it's hard or not has little influence over accidents as alot of accidents are due to bad driver attitude and driving tests can't assess that.

@@thedrivingtestguynsw8424 we're always told to "drive to the conditions of the road"....... but the driver's handbook tells you to drive in a "just incase" type of way. How people are taught to drive, especially in a manual, is completely different to normal driving conditions
