It was always pronounced Sow-ness by commentators in his days at Boro.

Wonder why Spurs opted to wear their change kit at Middlesbrough?

If you were there then maybe you could say if there was only 15,000 there as it looked more like 20,000 to me , both ends packed and stands full too. Creative accounting maybe ?

Interesting to see this footage. Marsh and Best look ordinary in the Fulham game. Best's fitness levels don't look that great. It's quite sad. I suppose it boosted attendances at the time. I saw Best in the flesh up here in Glasgow a few years later playing in a cup semi-final. I only went because THE George Best was playing.

Fulham went on a pretty poor run after the initial boost with the Hereford 4/1 win and think im correct in saying Marsh left pretty soon after this match

Yes, that was a popular chant on The Shelf in the 70s, and clearly audible on many a Sunday afternoon viewing, lol. Think it was due to a perceived bias towards Arsenal or at least a lack of appreciation of Spurs' merits in the games shown on ITV. Can't remember him saying anything untoward all the times I watched the Big Match but guess there was some reason behind it...

Brian was a Gillingham fan and latterly a director but as host of the London region had to be as neutral as possible. If you pay attention to any narration of a London team v anyone else he was rooting for the London teams whether it was Millwall,Palace, Spurs,Arsenal or West Ham United...
