Very helpful bub thanks a lot to you and your helper. I’ve had to go back and watch this video several times. You know the problems with ignition switches on these jeeps 😂

What are the symptoms what's the reason your replacing ignition switch
@ryanelkins80819 ай бұрын
Some people online said they switched it because it would cause the dash and lights to flicker on and off and then throw a code for the fuel sending unit. Some people said they go out a lot. Code U1411.

In my experience, all the job is done easily if you first remove the blend door actuator wich is behind the ignition assembly. It's an easy task and doing that will prevent a lot of effort in removing the ignition key assembly. Hope it helps. Thanks for the nice video.

Thanks for the guide. What issues were you having with the rig that prompted the repair?

Followed your video and all was smooth. One suggestion on the top machine screw is to dab a small amount of petroleum jelly (I bought a couple ounce tube and keep it in my toolbox) to hold the screw on the wrench tip.

Thanks, just changed mine out and your video helped a lot. A little tricky getting the assembly back in place after changing the switch but otherwise pretty straight forward.

There was a recall on this 2005 Grand Cherokke model for the ignition switch. They replaced mine after 6 months of waiting on the part. I had the dealer replace the starter 3 different times now. Bought the starters at Advance or Auto Zone. I don't think the starters are the problem. When I turn the ignition nothing happens. No clicking from the solenoids- nothing. I jumped the small relay under the hood, but still nothing. I think it is a wire at the solenoid on the starter, but it is something you just can't get to without removing the exhaust. The neutral safety switch counld also be a problem, but that is inside of the tranny, on the side. My Jeep is the '05 Hemi 4x4 with only 60K/M on it. When I go to start it, nothing happens. The heater motor comes on even though it's off. Now the key is getting stuck in the ignition so I can't get it out, as though it's still in gear. This was the 1st year of this model, so it has *several* issues. I want to sell it, but then my insurance will go UP $75 a month, since it is the 3rd vehicle on the "multi-car discount" program. Have fun when the front differential bushings start squeaking and clunking. They wouldn't allow mine to pass state inspection since it is a "safety problem", even though it did that from day 1 when I sold it to myself from a large dealer. They make the money in service, not on the vehicles. The vehicles you see on a large dealers lot are all owned by a bank, under a "floor plan". The dealer doesn't own them. Dealers have a quota to make every month, and every year. They will lose money on a vehicle just to make the quota, as they get a year end bonus. The best time to get a deal is at the end of the month, and the very best time is at the end of the month at the end of the year. The Jeep you show, if it is fully loaded, was around $43K when new in 2005. What's it worth now? Whatever someone is willing to pay for it. I might just wind up putting the Hemi from my Grand Cherokee into a lowly little Jeep Patriot. Those are the worst Jeeps ever made. Fuel economy sucks for a 4 cylinder, and the pickup and accelration can be compared to a riding lawn mower. Seriously. Thanks for the video. Wanna buy a low mileage 4x4 Hemi loaded?

Thank you for the video very helpful. I have a question. Say you did all this and your car still doesn’t turn on, power and heat comes right on with no problem. Can the the problem be the Key Fob ( the chip). I noticed my car won’t turn on without the original key, so can that be the issue?

do you have to have the dealer reprogammer the keys afterwards?
@okcvet1st Жыл бұрын
No programming is required. You're not changing the key transponder, that's what is being taken off as you remove the switch.

@@okcvet1st forgot to mention doing a ignition lock cylinder also.. do you know if I need reprogramming?

So if you change the switch, you won’t have to change the module to because of course the kid needs to get programmed right with the new switch
@okcvet1st6 ай бұрын
@Emiranda0426 Not sure if I'm understanding you correctly. There's no programming required at all to replace this style ignition switch. The lock cylinder is not being changed, only the switch which is mounted to the back of the lock cylinder.
