Which 2 pins where you using? Ive been trying to find the appropriate diagram

I got p0500 code, lost rpms, speedometer , fuel gauge, and odometer. The battery got killed shortly after. Replaced battery and found a 6 amp draw with ignition off, key removed. When i remove the "dome" fuse or the entire cluster assembly, the amps drop back to normal (0.050A or 50mA). I tried replacing with 2 different known working used cluster units, same result. Could the VSS or the ECM be causing this drain? I know this cluster is connected to those, among other things.
@Kanesgarage2 жыл бұрын
Quick question. Instead of replacing the cluster, do you think it would be possible to simply tap the ECM output from cluster into the VSS feed wire to the cluster? Are the square waves exactly the same or is the data processed before leaving the cluster?
@MadSceintist18 күн бұрын
The cluster breaks the voltage down into 2 parts for the ecm, 1 4.5v and 1 12v signal. It divides them up to reference other inputs from abs for traction control

But, what specifically is bad in the cluster? A connector to a resistor or capacitor? Broken solder? Just what is wrong?
@elitemobileautoelectric77823 ай бұрын
@RolandCaston the cluster itself. As in what gets damaged inside I'm not sure. I took it to a cluster repair shop and got it back fixed in 3hrs.

@elitemobileautoelectric7782 I may have to take mine out and give it a close look with a magnifying glass. I've replaced stepper motors, bulbs and resistors. I will post a video if I can do it. Thanks for your reply.

Hi, I have a similar issue with my 08 Camry. My speedometer is working fine, all ABS wheel Speed Sensor including engine speed are working fine. But I’m still getting a check engine light on with the code P0500. I also changed my cluster and still having the issue. Any idea or tight on what I can do? Thanks

Fits right in, no programming required.

@jimmyb257 This guy can definitely help you out with a diagnostic. I believe he's also in SoCal. Get in contact with him @Globalcommerce he's also got a KZbin channel. If you feel comfortable and know it's the cluster just send it in to fix. I know someone here in phx that fixed mine. @globalcommerceca.com

It looked like the check engine light was still on? I have the same problem and it won't pass smog to get my tags.
@elitemobileautoelectric77823 жыл бұрын
Yes check engine light remained on for that point since I swapped the cluster without deleting the codes. After I installed the new/used cluster and bolted everything up I deleted the codes and check engine light didn’t turn on at all.
@antech5553 жыл бұрын
So what's the quick fix? Replace the cluster?
@elitemobileautoelectric77823 жыл бұрын
Yes In this case the cluster was the main issue.

How do you test the abs module?
@elitemobileautoelectric77822 жыл бұрын
You can use the Data on your scan tool to go into the ABS module and see the inputs and outputs

I hit a big pile of snow in my Lexus and the cluster went out shortly after. Getting the same code.
@zezozezon82913 жыл бұрын
Copying and pasting from google since my Lexus RX 330 got the same code and sharing in case someone in the future sees this (I will clear my code and see if it comes back since the code showed up when I got stuck in snow.): Mopar's Notes: P0500 Error Code - Explained Since 4 wheel anti lock brakes rely on 2 front axle sensors and 1 rear wheel sensor. The CAB (Controller Anti lock Brakes) is watching the speed output from all 3 sensors at one time. So when on a slick surface like ice, gravel, wet pavement, etc. when you accelerate rapidly and cause the rear tires to spin the rear speed sensor jumps up in speed rapidly and the front 2 sensor could be at zero speed yet. So the CAB (Controller Anti lock Brakes) can't understand how the rear half of the truck is doing say 35 MPH and the front half is doing 0 MPH. POOF! P0500 code is thrown. Is their any solder joints in the cluster that could be re flowed to fix the problem?
@elitemobileautoelectric77824 жыл бұрын
Random GearHead i am not sure, however I think it might have been a problem with a transistor in the circuit board. I’m not familiar with the design or what transistor operates what. That is a whole different diagram that would tell me that.

Can you continue to drive with this issue? What risks?
@anthony850313 жыл бұрын
Yes you can still drive like this. The only reason this was repaired it’s because the customer needed to pass it emissions and he had to fix it. But this will not Damage anything other components so you’re fine.

What would be worng with jumping the ABS signal to the ECU? By this point, you know where the pinouts are? Sounds a lot easier than finding a junkyard cluster that may or may not have the problem.
@elitemobileautoelectric77822 жыл бұрын
You can’t jump it. The cluster processes that signal to get the check engine light to go off. If I jump it the code will remained there. The cluster was replaced and issue was fixed.

@@rzerobzero have you checked the outputs to the speed sensors with the Scan tool data?
@rzerobzero2 жыл бұрын
@@elitemobileautoelectric7782 I have only checked the ABS wheel speed sensors (Automatic Tranny) and have never had so much as a dip in the speedo. And no other scan codes. And this P0500 usually doesn't actually light the CEL, but sits in pending, enough to fail emissions.
