06/15/24 striper update on hwy37 at Cullinan Ranch wetlands.

First time back to wetlands Cullinan Ranch fishing for striper. Our bait is grass shrimp so far it’s not good. We normally use live mud sucker and bullhead and blood worms for bait,but this time bait shop doesn’t have any so grass shrimp is not good.

Those stripers have a mind of their own sometimes, it's either off or on, especially harder for bankfishing. They spawn naturally in my lake, we have galore of them, they eat everything. We did green light fishing this weekend, I ended up getting the only keeper about 25" on ghost minnow fishing off boat dock, the next hour not even one bite, we had tons of ghosts minnows around the light too. Then it was a half moon which was not good, I mis read the moon phase. You will get them next time. I notice you guys do no have a 7 ft med action spinning rod with a size 2000 reel spooled with 10 lb braid using 2 inch minnow imitation casting out in that outflow slow rolling it. I make lures, I should send you some but you have to have the right tackle to use them. I spent over 3k on lure molds, injectors, colors, glitter, plastisol and other accessories which allow me to make type, size and color. It's funny, out of all this stuff, I came up with one style and color I only use and it catches every species, if I had only know before, LOL.

Honestly I don’t like using small rod and reel for striper and catfish. I use 7ft only for bluegill and small catfish. That day I used small hook and small line to fish for mud sucker, but striper attack the red worms lol. If I didn’t slide on the rocks,maybe I could grab the fish already 😂

@@sakhomfishingadventures2584 The one that got away will come back to you. It has been a long spawn for them in the Sac river, you guys had epic rain that is not normal from years past. It does the same thing on my lake, they stay in the river until it gets too warm. Once I was in Connecticut at Salt Ponds on business and learn that during post spawn the large stripers would feed on these small clams larvae, they kind of look like worms. They have no interest in big baits but if you had a lure that mimic those clams, you would hammer them. Also, anything that look like ghost minnows along the surf and rivers. I have seen fly fisher with clouser fly pull fish after fish anyone using different would not catch. I prefer using plastics so bought that mold that looks like a ghost minnow it out fishes live bait sometimes. If the stripers are not feeding off the bottom they might be a foot or two below the surface waiting for ghost minnows to swim by. Peanuts, hot dogs, or steak diner, some days you just are not that hungry for a big meal.

Yeah 👍 at least I got proof in my video 😂 I was using red worms to fish for mud sucker and the line is very old from many years ago lol and small I believe it’s 4lbs. We will win next time if we have the right bait.
