06 Dodge Dakota 4.7L P0882 (PCM Issue)

I got the same problem with a 2006 Dodge Dakota. I replaced the PCM, and I still have the same problem. What I noticed is when the ignition is on/engine off and I auto scan with an Autel scanner, there is no communication with PCM and TCM. But if the car engine is on, the auto scan can communicate with PCM and TCM.

I also noticed that if I enter the PCM or TCM module with ignition on/engine off, I am able to communicate with these modules.

Im very sorry for the late response. Is the PCM and TCM in the same module on your vehicle? or are they separate modules? Where did the replacement PCM come from? Has there ever been any damage due to rodents, squirrels, etc?

@@sapsaz7102 The PCM and TCM are in the same module. I got it at Flagship one. I don't think there are damaged wires. The thing is that when the engine is on, I do the auto scan, and the scanner is able to scan every single module. But when the engine is off and ignition on, the PCM and TCM show no response while the other modules are scanned. I can enter the PCM or TCM individually while ignition on and engine off.

@@jake2772 I haven't checked the truck, but I think one solenoid inside the transmission is damage.

Where did you purchase new rebuilt? PCM?….. Also what model Scan Tool are you using? 👍

@@Electric1892-n1f If I remember correctly the customer ordered the PCM. I told him to go on eBay and find a rebuilt one. Look for one that has really high ratings. If you pay attention to the seller's ratings, you usually have a pretty good outcome with PCMs off eBay. When you purchase from someone off eBay give them your VIN number and they'll store that VIN number in the PCM for you.

@@Electric1892-n1f The scan tool I was using... Is an Autel maxisys pro MK908p... Honestly I wouldn't recommend it. Check out pine hollow auto diagnostics on youtube. I think he uses a think tool or something of that sort. That's way more affordable and appears to have good functionality. I hope this helps. Have a wonderful day! 😊

Good Video, I have the same issue on a 4x4 2006 Dakota ST with a 4.7l. I replaced the transmission on it since the old one died and since I've been getting code P1603 and P0700. I believe its a dead PCM too. I got a replacement from a junk jard from a 2006 Dakota SLT, same model number. But the truck wont turn on when I swapped the new unit into it. What OBD reader do I need to recalibrate the new PCM?

Its hard to say. Each scan tool has its pros and cons. There is not one scan tool that does it all. I have an old snap on, and an Autel that I use. I have not purchased one yet but this think tool may be a good one I may look into. It may be that your ignition security key (chip) is not programmed into your ECM that you just replaced.
