Very thorough diagnostic. The alternator can be removed by removing the a/c line bracket, power steering reservoir, and moving the washer fluid reservoir, though it is a very tight fit. According to Honda owners, these vehicles tend to have issues with anything other than Denso/OEM replacement alternators. Thank you

I came on here as my 2015 Odyssey battery light juat came on today and the battery read 11.6 volts, so my van is in getting a new altenator and battery as I write this. First timer. Great video. Having the same problem with my 2015 Odyssey. The damaged alternator could have been from that bad valve cover gasket oil leak dripping on to the alternator I see on the video. I'm going to have to fix both things on mine. Gaskets and alternator.

This makes sense! I have been having this same issue and just had to have my rear valve cover gaskets replaced today. First thing I was hoping to see is the battery light turned off. Unfortunately its still on...I'm going to check my battery and alternator and see of that fixes it.

Hey KD, good work again bro. Jus something I would like to mention as it relates to the ‘C’ and ‘FR’ terminals. The ‘C’ terminal has what is referred to as a toggle style control where the PCM raises or lowers the voltage to change state of the voltage regulator ie; high state turns on the regulator (system voltage) and low state turns off the regulator (less than 1 volt). It is NOT a duty cycle on this terminal. Secondly, the FR terminal is a duty cycle signal output from the voltage regulator to the PCM which infers alternator load. By the way FR means ‘Field Reference’ Well, enough said brother, nice video again 👍🏾👍🏾

Similar issue on my 2008 Honda Odyssey. I replaced the alternator and had to remove and replace the belt tensioner assembly too as it was broken. But the van is still running off the battery. Wires are all getting correct readings. Is this a PCM or possibly the Dash side fuse?

Good video on showing the alternator wire signals, however, it would be great to know which signal wires are input/outputs to the PCM. Maybe next time you can show us the good signals from a working alternator just to see what they should look like on a working alternator. Thank you for the video.

Good video man. But just a tip you don’t have too take radiator or tranny cooler lines off. Just remove power steering overflow & loosen washer fluid tank . Take passenger side wheel off, plastic shield. Take serp belt off & 3 bolts and alternator is out! Yea sounds easy dosent it lmao!

Hello K Diagnostics, I have a 2006 Honda Odyssey EXL. Yesterday all the lights came up on dash and battery went dead fast. I use it to work a taxi service. A mobile mechanic put another alternator on it.. everything check out good after he used his scanner.. my battery is good as well. After driving it about 20 miles yesterday, I parked it then woke up this morning and battery was dead again. He swapped alternator out for another and that alternator charged battery for a short while (but not at first) but after unplugging side plug from alternator and plugging back up, it starting working... but now battery dead again after driving it less than 10 miles... That's 2 new alternators and van is still doing same thing. Also he checked fuses and the ones he checked were good. Any tips would be great & much appreciated regarding what it could be. Maybe a fuse somewhere that people miss? Thank you

Wes365 I recommend you use an OEM Alternator, and make sure the Alternator wiring is good!

Christopher Townsend Get an OEM Alternator, I can almost guarantee that the new Alternator is defective as long as your wiring and the main fuse is good! Get a Genuine Alternator from Honda and your problem will be solved!

Very good detailed video. I have a 06 odyssey been having issues with the alternator. Replaced the alternator twice just this year, 2021 and just a couple of days ago the vehicle died again after draining the battery flat to the point of inability to jump with a jumper. Had to tow home since charge was not holding. Battery is good but something is up I suspect with the wiring. Not sure though why when the alternator is replaced no battery light, and charges well. Took it to the shop but they were unable to determine what was wrong. I’m planning on replacing the alternator again check the resistance and hopefully take it to the shop where they can run tests on the wires. By the way I discovered a way of bypassing taking off the radiator. I just pry it and get the alternator out. In fact the only thing I disconnect is the coolant reservoir and of course the top cover but that’s it. A one man job. Something is messing my alternators. Any advice?

Josiah Obwatho it sounds like you've been getting low quality parts, get an alternator from Honda the OEM one and the problem should be fixed for good, since it worked for a while when you first replaced the alternator, I can say that the wiring is most likely good. but you can still double check the wiring!! Hey we have a 2016 odyssey and it glitches a lot. But the more we drive it it doesn’t glitch like before. When I say glitch I mean it sounds like it’s trying to turn on and off… we had the car in storage as we went overseas and just got it back. It stopped glitching but now the battery light is on. Battery and alternator was checked and we got a new battery. But the battery light keeps coming on!!! Any suggestions? Auto zone said both battery and alternator was good

I replaced the alternator with a remanufactured one and alternator fuse as well on my 2014. A few weeks ago. Battery light is still on. Battery is good. Might have to just shell out an get a new alternator.
