Honda quoted me $2500 to do a full oil pump replacement but after some diagnostics and watching this video, I have discovered it's just the oil filter adapter gasket. A $16 part and 1hr of labour. Thank you!

That is one thing I really appreciate about these Honda designs, they make them so that these individual parts are repairable with a simple O-ring and or gasket set. Take their power steering pumps, very expensive, and I am sure the dealerships love selling new ones. The kicker is, just about anyone with some basic hand tools can rebuild one for around $30 or $40, depending on the Honda dealer you purchase the O-rings, seal and bearing from.
@TheProtagonist_77710 ай бұрын
It's a shame they do not sell some of the gaskets, VCM gaskets for instance. You have to buy aftermarket gaskets.
@ReeseAssad4 ай бұрын
Lmfao the kicker with the power steering pumps on the v6 hondas is that they are a pain in the ass to install especially the high pressure line that routes to the rack directly, and if u got a leak on the return line even a more pain the ass problem, and i dont think basic hand tools will suffice for a power steering pump job lol espeically if you need to remove the motor mount to replace ps belt thats connected to the crank pulley

GUNK "Engine Brite" or Simple Green are really good cleaners for the outside of the engine block to grt all the old oil grime off. Sprsy them on liberally, let them sit for 10 to 15 minutes to emulsify. Then blast the solvents off with a high pressure gargen hose or power washer.

Extremely bad valve cover leak or power steering hose leak will cause long standing smoke under the hood. Because of the location, typically you won't see smoking because it's away from the exhaust
