Would the cdi box cause it not to start but to spark like 16 times per one rotation?
@DocHolliday86 Жыл бұрын
16 times per rotation??? Lol. That's a new one. If anything would cause that, it would probably be the cdi more than anything else

Yeah I probably should have took a video of it before I put the cdi in the oven but as I pull the cord very slowly it would spark a lot of times about 6 or 7 times while the piston travels down. I'm guessing whatever is in the CDI is bypassing the firing stroke.

I'm guessing the CDI is wired up to the AC generator and there's a whole bunch of different poles for some reason it doesn't know which one is the firing one!?

@@gtfm50 if i understand it correctly, the cdi is powered by the battery and it stores a charge in the internal capacitor. When the engine rotates and the magnet on the flywheel passes the crank sensor aka trigger coil aka pulse generator aka hall effect sensor then that sends an AC signal to the cdi where it goes through rectifiers and turns to DC to release a charge to the ignition coil. The coil is basically a step up transformer that then steps up the voltage enough to send to the spark plug to create spark. Long story short, I'd definitely check your timing and trigger coil, but all in all, I'm with u on the cdi. Maybe the capacitor isn't able to store energy so it's releasing a charge too rapidly. U should definitely not be getting more than 2 sparks per revolution on a 4 stroke.

Didn't work for me still no spark

It's just one thing to look at. There could be multiple other reasons
