Just before midnight, Harris County Sheriff’s Office responded to a major accident on the I-45 feeder, southbound at the westbound feeder of 99. They arrived to find a Toyota split in two and at least two other vehicles damaged. A female driver and her 16-year-old son were on the way to Old Town Spring to work on cleaning a Baptist Church. They were in the right southbound lane at the red light for 99 westbound feeders. There was construction in the left lane marked with barrels and multiple vehicles with emergency lights going. As the light changed and she started to pull away, a black Toyota passed her on the right turn lane and then tried to cut back in front of her at an extremely high rate of speed. The Toyota jumped the curb, hit the traffic light pole, and sheared in two. She was able to stop but was struck twice as the vehicle spun. She saw the passenger of the vehicle go over the top of her Tahoe in his seat. The back half of the Toyota struck a Zachary Toll Road Construction truck parked in the construction area. The front of the car continued about 100 feet and came to rest. The driver then opened the door and stepped out. He was taken by Cypress Creek EMS to Hermann Woodlands Hospital in stable condition with a minor brain bleed and a possible broken leg. A Harris County deputy went to the hospital to retrieve a mandatory blood draw on the driver. The blood showed the 19-year-old to have a blood alcohol of almost twice the legal limit. He is being charged with intoxication manslaughter. A female firefighter who was just north of the location stated she was also passed by the vehicle as he tried to cut her off. He will be transported from the hospital to the Harris County Jail.
Jacob Austin Lantrip, 19, of the Woodlands is being charged with intoxication manslaughter. Casey Bedner, the right seat passenger was deceased on the scene.
HARRIS COUNTY SHERIFF’S INVESTIGATOR WOULD LIKE ANY INFORMATION ON WHERE THE DRIVER WAS PRIOR TO THE CRASH.

He was charged with intoxicated manslaughter so he will he sitting in prison for a while. Intoxicated Manslaughter can carry the same amount of time as second degree murder in some states and I believe intoxicated Manslaughter is looked at as the same as Voluntary Manslaughter. No, this was voluntary. He chose to drink & drive. This should be Murder 1, either life in prison or the death penalty. No excuses, no “oh, but I’m an alcoholic,” too many options now. That, and this bloodsucking idiot was underage. Somehow I doubt this was his first jaunt in a car drunk, just an unlucky night. For his passenger who was a d******k for getting in the car with this douche it was deadly! However, sometimes two birds of a feather fly together, and the passenger was under a bad sign that night. I have zero remorse for the driver…hope he rots in Hell, or commits suicide & saves everyone a lot of grief. He’ll never repent, nor change. Let him out, first stop will be a liquor store!

@@CaptchaNeon .... In a sense you're correct. But to really understand the big picture? You have to go back into history, research and learn about all the ins and outs, and dealings between the federal government, and the private tobacco companies, and also with the alcohol dist.... And it doesn't end there! The same government strong arming and theft, happens to many different industries. Its such a tangled web, of government lies, theft, deceit, and corruption it will make your head spin. To simply elaborate on the statement you made, could fill a text book! Easily. But if you had to boil it down, to the absolute simplest terms, even at the expense of giving up some accuracy? Yes, a MAJOR aspect of it is money. By money, meaning money the government received/receives.. Another huge aspect of it is control. Those "groups" not "favored" by big brother, for their past and present $$ contributions, and for their historical "standing" with government, are not on gov's favored list. (Cigarettes=1 key example among many others) All this stuff is documented, historical and factual. But it never fails, whenever someone starts discussing this and laying all the facts down for people to see, theres always one or more idiots that immediately start yelling "conspiracy theory"... And to most young people, who've been brainwashed/indoctrinated, they most all believe that anything called a conspiracy theory means its all made up nonsense by some whako... So, despite the reality of this historical government corruption, at that point you've basically lost the ability to enlighten most of them on this huge government scandal. And yes, technically it is a conspiracy, since everything done in government involves at least several people, therefore it fills the technical definition of what a 'conspiracy theory' really is. American Government/big brother has turned what was their initial attack on small town, private tobacco farmers, into the biggest, most profitable lie and scam in American history. Cancer and cancer treatment, initially and falsely founded upon "cigarette smoking" and those "terrible" cigarette companies. But that lie & scam has almost run its course now, and it's becoming clearly evident to American citizens with a working brain, that they've been lied to for decades!! You see, government knew from the beginning, that the lie about cigarettes would profit them more than any amount of taxes applied to tobacco could ever make. And with the tobacco growers fighting for the American rights as farmers, they started a war. Which the gov has been milking for 50 years now! But now, in a society where the percentage of smokers has gone from 90% smokers, down to less than 10% smokers, CANCER, instead of decreasing equally with cigarette use, has done exactly the opposite!! And cancer has increased over 300%!! in a society of NON smokers! See, they brainwashed everyone into believing cigarettes were causing all the cancer! Which of course we now know was false. Government uses the same lie for every product they hijack, they just insert the different names into the blanks. This enables them to reap ALL the profits, and them some, on that particular item, while leaving the original founders/manufacturers etc fighting to produce and sell THEIR product.

It's because when someone consumes alcohol, it relaxes the muscles and reaction times slow down. For every ounce you consume, the affects decrease reaction and relaxing comes easier and easier. In a collision, a drunk won't tense up or hold their breath before impact, which severely increases the changes of a burst lung or other organ, and is what most people do prior to an accident. Case in point, there was a fatal accident years ago in my area involving a drunk and three young males. The three guys got off work one night and were heading home in their older model pickup. A severely impaired driver ended up in a high speed pursuit (he was clocked by several officers going in excess of 120mph) with three jurisdictions and sadly t-boned the 3 kids driving home at a downtown intersection. They never saw it coming. The impact killed all three kids instantly and the drunk survived somehow. Two of three kids were ejected (and they were all wearing seatbelts-the force of the impact snapped the belts), one approximately 50 feet away, the other landed in an alley way about 100 or so feet from the impact site. The third ended up impaled in the dash/engine. One of the most horrific tragedies around here and all because a drunk attempted to run over officers and then flee at a high rate of speed.
@tweeotch
@tweeotch 8 жыл бұрын
goforwand31 Thank you, sir. And if I may add to your comment, drunk or not, it may only take an impact of 35 mph (~56 kph) for an aorta to detach from the heart. Another significant fact is the number of actual collisions involved. 1) Vehicle collision. 2) Objects within vehicle colliding. 3) Organs within a living body colliding within its skeleton.

I know this is an older video? But Scott Engle always does/did, (don't see him posting anymore, so I guess he retired/got out of this business?), an excellent job getting information, talking to the police/firemen, and staying out of their way. Always felt I got all the information, or the best possible, from all his videos. Today? There's a multitude of sites doing this- LLN, or Loud Lab News, USED to get some interviews every so often, and try to get us some information, but not anymore, that I can find. For all of those sites, all we get is a brief explanation, usually things we already know, just watching it. For Scott, and the "Old LLN"? I was happy at times, to research follow-up information, trying to put some closure on the posts, if they were particularly bad, or had many questions left unanswered. I'll do that only very rarely now- I mean, if they're not going to try & help inform us, by at least speaking with an Officer or Fireman, or even bystanders/Witnesses? Why should I? I've seen a few others do what I did from time to time, but I don't see them doing it anymore, either. Extra effort is always appreciated, when horrible things happen, and that, in turn? Makes others want to help out, as well. I miss those days, tbqh.

I never drove at all been seeing car accidents for over fifty years and it does something to you not to mention police officers who see this everyday.They should make cars top speed thirty mph because the faster they speed the more deadlier the accident. Also a majority of these are caused by young males between 18-35 who have this fascination with speed and recklessness sometimes driving impaired from alchohol or drugs when someone else is killed they should be charged with murder and given a life sentence with no parole.Lawyers might say it was attempted murder but they are old enough to know better and the consequences think of the pain and anguish they cause the victims friends and relatives.

Alcohol should be banned or taxes so high as to be unaffordable. In some States its against the law to smoke cigarettes in a public area and the tax on cigarettes is tremendously high. But it has become the norm to drink, drive and kill innocent people. Greedy corporations reap the benefits for the sale of their killer alcohol. Most if not all drunk drivers survive crashes because they are sedated from alcohol and their bodies seems to bounce around with ease. What a horrible accident the impact was woth such great force it ripped the passenger seat out of the car with passenger still in the seat throwing it up and over the the other drivers Tahoe. She said she seen the young man still in the seat fly over her Tahoe. Then back half of the car hit another truck and the front half of the car went 100 ft before stopping. It took great force at impact to do all that.. This is very sad, 2 young men that were just starting their life as adult men with their whole life in front of them got cut short. One is now dead he will never get to have all those great experiences of life. The other destroyed his life, he throw it all away by getting behind the wheel drunk. Now he will go to prison and I would think, the worse part for him is having to live with the fact he killed his friend by being stupid and drinking and driving. He will probably have dreams of this accident and his friends face causing many sleepless nights for the rest of his life. The guilt, sleepless nights, broken heart of the lost of his friend will weigh on him all of his days. This to me would be so much more worse to live with, then prison. One thing for sure is prison will give him time to think of his crime and stupidity. The time in prison will rip his heart and soul apart specially with all that time to just sit and think. To dwell on what he has done this would be a horrible way to live. That night of drunken fun damn sure wasnt worth it. He has definitely destroyed his life in many ways. I believe happiness for this young man will be hard to come by if he has any morals this will be hard to live with... This video should be show to a high-school kids the school system needs to bring back Drivers Ed when I was in school I had drivers Ed and we had to watch videos like this one and they would bring in crashed cars from DUI accidents that had a death involved. The videos plus seeing and touch a crashed car that someone lost their life in was very sobering experience it was sad and moving for me it was enough not to ever drink and drive. Even if only half who take drivers education never drink and drive its well worth bring back Drivers Ed....

Why does the sheriffs office handle this and not the State Highway Patrol like most states??
@ixxieangel

Depends on the jurisdiction, this accident occurred on a service road managed by the Sheriff. Had it happened on the interstate then it would have been handled by Highway Patrol.

Like most states 🤔 Every state I have lived in the locals do accident investigation. The State handles most interstate accidents. Here however the State Police let locals handle almost every wreck. That includes fatal. The State Police here will handle if requested or if a city or county vehicle is involved. Very fee states have State Police handle the fatal wrecks completely as they don't have enough officers to handle all of them.

And compared to the price of steel, aluminum is not cheap. You would never save any money building a car out of aluminum as opposed to steel. It would weigh less and depending on the design would be weaker l, but cheaper, no.
