08/07/2024 Kuala Lumpur - Subang Airport (SZB/WMSA)

This was it. The one moment everyone was waiting for: the first time a F-35 S T E A L T H F I G H T E R takes off from Subang Airport. The F-35's Pratt & Whitney F135 engine is definitely one of the loudest jet engines around.
Well fed and well rested, the Italian contingent continued south towards Darwin, Australia to participate in Exercise Pitch Black 2024. 2x F-35B were left behind that day "due to technical issues".

Hope you don't mind me adding this in. I was at RAF Leuchars for an airshow sometime in the early 90s. Two RAF Phantoms (I think No 74 sqdr) taxied out of the hangars and took off around 10am with full after burners. Immediately as the after burners lit, every car alarm went mental. What a sight and the sound of the afterburners is something unforgettable.

F-35A normal take off variant F-35B vertical take off (VTOL) variant.

@@ashravicmehmet6055 the F-35B did not use their STOL capability that day to save fuel. No, F-35B cannot do a pure vertical takeoff with any meaningful amount of fuel or ordnance board.

Almost. Some of us have friends working as fuel truck drivers, some of us has friends working as ground handlers, some of us has friends working as airport cleaners, some of us has friends who work as airport shuttle drivers.... we just piece together our information

Even if Malaysia could afford to buy that model, the US won't allow it due to no diplomatic relations between Malaysia and Israel. And like other nations which possess that model except Israel, Singapore still needs a new password for a certain period basis whenever their pilots want to switch on the engine.

​​​@@ng1270Nonsense. We are an ally. Otherwise they wouldnt upgrade our Hornets to near Super Hornet status. Also USAF uses our air bases while US Navy does regular exercises wih TLDM. US Army also havs jungle training with our army annually. The US did offer jets to us, but we have decided to delay our purchases till after all our FA-50's come into service. However, Malaysia very likely would not be buying the US jets as there are other options available which might make more sense.
