I have spent my life traveling until I set up roots in Austin Tx. No place rains like Texas. With a 20% chance of rain it can be dry then boom in less than a minute you can be swept away. I learned when I moved here in 2017. I almost got swept away . No one around to help me. Gratefully I was able to grab hold of a tree branch and pull myself up. Any chance of rain now I make sure I am inside where my foundation sits high.

This is why we keep life preservers in our cars. The actual vest for the non swimmer. The flat cushion type in my car. I generally expect I won’t be grabbing them because we drove into submarine depths. Mostly in case we can’t stay put and have to wade out. Or to throw to someone else in distress . The flat one doesn’t take up much room. It’s handy for a seat cushion or pad cargo. When placed over my cooler on a sunny day, the ice packs don’t melt as fast. Considering how many people live in flood zones, and how many drown on the roadway, everyone should have some in their vehicles. Be safe Happy motoring 👍😎

"We Are Stronger" A Poem by Steven F Gooden We're never as strong, as we are until we have to be. Never Do as much, unless the need we see. Only give our best, when we fail at mediocrity. We Love rather than hate when we admit we're one humanity. We always give more, when compassion moves our heart with unbridled generosity. We Become more of our potential when we are made to see, that clearly our minds can believe in unfathomable possibilities, while seizing every opportunity, here in lies one's destiny. More than our scars, higher than our stars, for in our flaws are what defines our features, they're uniquely ours, as human creatures. We can run faster than on our slowest day. Reason better, and thinking it through all the way, regardless which direction our emotions may sway. We can find our voice when speechless, our strong words with meekness and our Courage in weakness. Always patience not quickness. Silence for peace than loudness, quietness of fear, not hopeless, for time and effort are equally unbiased. We are more than the stories we're told, we're the one's we write, each page unfold. We are the sum of our Lies and truth, fantasy, fiction, faith, and myths, no matter how uncouth. These are what shape us, our lives lived is the proof. We can be more right than wrong. More just than judge. More godlike than unlike. Reflecting Sunlight in our darkest night. Providing refuge. Never more alive until we die within and begin again. A Human Ark Divine in our human spark. by Steven Gooden

I'm from Corpus Christi, and this is not that uncommon. During the summer rain is rather rare, the ground dries up, and when a heavy rain sweeps through, the ground can't absorb it fast enough, and the sewer system can't handle the run off. Flash flood. But we deal with it. We're Texans! :)

@Dark Cloud Yes, we need massive underground water aquifers to collect all that rain water. Too many states ignoring this. My town in Menifee CA built a new desalination facility for underground, salty water discovered.

Thats not how electric cars are built. In fact, most battery packs are already water cooled. They are completely watertight units, so luckily engineers take these these kinds of things into account.

A Human Ark Divine in our human spark. by Steven Gooden

used to live in PNW which has reputation for rain but there's a lot more continuous drizzle than torrential. it was only after I moved to Virginia that I experienced torrential rain that you have to turn hazard lights on to be seen by other cars but we don't have alot of flash floods. it is hard to comprehend getting caught in that. If you know an area well enough, you have pretty good idea where on the road you are. When I lived in Maryland, I was heading home into a snow storm that leveled everything flat but you generally know how everything looks to know where you are in the space (like knowing in this area, its about 8 ft from the edge of the road to bush/tree line, etc).

Sad to say, this is my hometown. The flooding is due to one or both of two things. One, lack of cleaning of storm drains, which collect tons of trash and end up blocking them, preventing proper drainage. Second, corruption by current and past city elected officials, most of whom have been real estate developers and building contractors, that have pushed for residential development in known flood plains. As long as they get their dollar, though.
