my 2006 vtx 1300c has the original tires with only 1800 miles on the bike, this video would help me a lot in getting the tire off the bike and take it to the shop to get it replaced

Love ur bike there chief! 👍🏽 How much total miles does the bike have so far and how does she ride on freeways?
@OnTheEdgeNow2 жыл бұрын
I bought the bike with a little over 5000 miles on it and now have 7000 miles on it. We have had a pretty slow start in the riding season due to rain and cold weather. The bike loves to cruise down the intestate . The one weakness of the bike is riding on the backroads with sharper turns. The bike likes to go straight if you push the speed in a curve.

@@OnTheEdgeNow ty for the response. Love these vtx especially the R version very affordable almost bulletproof from what everybody’s saying and there’s plenty of them for sale. Sounds like a fun ride crossing different state lines! 👍🏽

@@lstruggy There are a lot of them and they are very reasonably priced. I always wanted one, but ended up buying a 2008 Yamaha 1100 Silverado off the showroom floor. I put 30000 miles on it and ended up selling it because of medical reasons. After a couple of years I was back to normal and picked up the Honda. Living in Wisconsin I can be riding country roads in 15 minutes. Lots of beautiful countryside to see up here.

@@OnTheEdgeNow You should try using large plastic zip-ties to tie the tire at sections all around the tire to take the tire off and put a new tire on. It seemed to work for this guy. Of course, then you need to balance the tire. As for me, I'd rather take it to a garage and have them do it. Too much work!!! lol /watch?v=ADh3PUDkzAY

@Brian T Parent I agree, I would rather take it somewhere and have it done. I am getting old and don't know how many tire changes I have left in me.

I would like to see how easily you got the jack under the bike. The 17mm Allen was way to big for my 07 1300c.
@OnTheEdgeNow4 ай бұрын
You have to tip the bike up straight in order to get the jack under on my bike. Then it will slide right in.

@@OnTheEdgeNow I wonder why my craftsman bike jack sucks!
@OnTheEdgeNow4 ай бұрын
@@rushtk2112 I bought an OTC jack. The arms are longer than most, so it is easier to place under the bike.

It’s an alignment process for the fork process. So nothing is in a bind and straight.

That makes sense. I'm glad you don't have to pay $500 for a tool to do this.

The floorboards came stock with the bike. Glad you enjoyed the video.

Front wheel bearings are sealed. A light coat of grease on the axle may help in assembly.

im sorry I wanna ask How you say inside of tires how they call
@OnTheEdgeNow2 жыл бұрын
Tire inner liner, followed by belts and finally tire tread. The sides of the tire are called side walls.

thanks for the info. im just going to drop mine off at honda for my new tires. i dont think this is a way i want to try and save a few bucks.

I don't blame you, it is not a fun job. I am going to do one more tire change when I need a new rear tire, and then I will be using a bike shop. I am getting too old.

@@OnTheEdgeNow me as well with the age thing. i really enjoy my vtx, it seems bulletproof and is a very good ride.

@@johnmichaeltracy9050 That is the one thing I like about the VTX. It is a solid bike, easy to maintain, and cruises down the road with ease on highways or backroads.

Did I miss you balancing your tire? Didnt see you do that.
@OnTheEdgeNow Жыл бұрын
I use Ride On. A liquid tire sealer and balancer. I have used it for about eight years and it seems to work well. They make different formulas so if you want to try it get the motorcycle blend.

The air pressure at 33 I heard is too low. I was told to put 40 psi. I’m running on Michelin commander lll

The sticker on my frame says to run 33 PSI at up to maximum weight on the front, and 33 PSI in the rear with up to a 200 lb. load weight and 36 PSI with a maximum load weight of 404 lbs.
