I spend a day exploring the beautiful Lynton and Lynmouth, where Exmoor meets the sea. This is one of my favourite places in Exmoor National Park so, despite the rather drizzly weather for a large part of the day, it’s a joy for me to be visiting here again. I explore the town of Lynton followed by a walk to the spectacular Valley of Rocks. The best part of the day, however, is when I drop down into the wonderful Lynmouth…..
Filmed in the county of Devon. Locations include Lynton, Lynmouth and the Valley of Rocks. This is the first film in Exmoor.
Written, researched, directed, camera and sound, edited and music by Patrick Leach.
Any other names credited in this film, i.e. Bob Morgan and Martin Roy, are pseudonyms, which I used at the time of making this film. However, I no longer use these pseudonyms as I want viewers to be clear that my films are completely my own work.

The first time I went to Lyndon and lynmouth was 1963 with mum dad and sister I had my leg in plaster and my dad told me about the lorna done on exmoor the place has a magic that will stay with me for ever miss you mum and dad

The two villages of Lynton and Lynmouth appear to be grand places indeed, Patrick. The coastal path has tremedous views, with those cliffs, and the rock features are prominant. It was also great to see the wild goats roaming about. The cliff railway is a stunner, still running at 130+years old. An amazing area, and a lovely video thank you

What an incredible coastal path,I want to sit on that bench at 5:50 and not move from it all day. You're right,Lynmouth is beautiful,I'd never even heard of it,especially loved the harbour and water powered railway. Patrick you should have had a career in tv,particularly in directing and presenting,I see this film has a lot of views and rightly so it's another superb effort,to anyone not in the know,Bob Morgan and Martin Roy are pseudonyms used by Patrick,he does every single thing single handed,all the camera work and filming,the writing and research,presenting,editing,writing and playing the music. I have not been to Devon in many years, and never to Lynton or Lynmouth and boy do they look like lovely places and I have to say the coastal path looks breathtaking. This was thoroughly enjoyable, great job, thanks for sharing Patrick.

i swear your films just keep getting better and better , i really enjoyed this it looks a smashing area , both Lynton and Lynmouth have so much to offer , the coastal pathway , with its breath taking views ,the castle rock area complete with wild goats, not mention the wonderful water feature at lynmouth , would have been enough , but the fanicular railway topped it off beautifully mate...and those stunning views at the start and finish made for a great film Patrick , thank you so much for sharing it with us..Frank and Lee...

I was fortunate to live here for almost a year in the very early 90’s. worked at the Rising Sun. It’s changed so much since, it’s hard to believe it is the same place. I often used to explore the Valley of the Rocks. Back then I had the whole thing to myself! Thanks for a very interesting video.

Great video; I spend lots of time in Exmoor fly fishing/outdoors during the year; but once walked the South West Coast path a few years ago with an ex-girlfriend, from Minehead to Lynton/Lynmouth following a steam train ride from somewhere near Taunton i think, to Minehead; got off the train in Minehead and we began the walk from there. West Somerset, Exmoor and North Devon has such a variety of terrains, from forest, moorland, uplands, lowlands, rivers, lakes and well-planned towns and harbours. And from what I can recall, a very steep descent on loose shale (ankle twisting/breaking) type stone towards the beach at Porlock before arriving in Porlock town for an overnight stay. The weather didn't help much as it was light rain for most of the time. Think Countesbury Hills are the ones you refer to. Went on the venacular railway about three times whilst in Lynton. But yes a great place to visit and stay for a couple of days or three before contuining your walk!

J remember a beautiful trip here many years ago... Limouth was really characteristic and all Devon and Corwall .The weather was sunny and warm. The Valley of the rock, Oxford and Cotswolds are amazing 💞

Thank you, glad you enjoyed it. I've made 130 films so far, in which I have covered lots of areas, so I'm very happy with that, but unfortunately I'm never going to please *everyone* where I make my films. There are many other places I'd love to film, but it's all down to time and cost. I work full-time and this is a hobby I do when I can in my spare time.
