As high tide rolled in and Lee passing nearby, huge waves roared onto the shores of Wells, Maine overtaking passing motorists while others stand and watch in awe as the towering waves crash in.
Some residents even braved the elements and went out surfing despite the dangerous rip tides in the area

Although oxidation is the mechanism, in this case it is specifically called chloride corrosion. If these people realized that, they’d never have brought their cars so close.

Why did they park their cars right there to have all the salt water dumped into them, people too lazy to walk a few extra yards to park it in the back or side streets?
