Interview - Daniel Jennette, owner of Smoky Mountain Outdoors watch his business float away. Great sound! Other businesses suffered the same fate in Hartford, TN as the Pigeon River raged beyond it's banks during a flash flood emergency in East, Tennessee along Interstate I-40.

I worked for Daniel this summer and he was one of best bosses ive ever had its sad to see whats happening i was down there little over a week ago and everything was still in drought now most of our staff housing, offices, Pavillion, and campground cabins have been washed out. Hopefully we can recover from this 🙏

im over in atlanta and the flooding that was in metro was bad but in the sense of dangerous, damaging, but not like...... FLOOD WATERS. you could maybe wade out of some of it. this video here though i like the worst nightmare flooding scenarios and buildings just gone, floating. nobody had any idea it would go THIS bad i don't think. we thought your more standard flooding.... and like asheville is flood prone because of how the mountains are and the nearby river. god this.... is just so terrible.

We are all waiting for waters to subside, and then we will try to assess the damage. There's nearly a dozen rafting companies on this river, all under water. But hopefully, we will be able to get back by the middle of next week. Hartford is a tight-knitted community though, so we will do like we always do, and band together to overcome this.

Yes, it partly was. Last week, we were under a severe drought. All of this has occurred within the last 24 hours. At 9:00 AM, most of this was still navigatable, though flood waters were rising.

Actually it's been around since the start of the industrial revolution - burning fossil fuels puts massive amounts of CO2 into the atmosphere trapping more of the sun's heat in the atmosphere and the oceans. Hotter oceans gives more energy to hurricanes, so they are stronger and able to hold more water. So bigger rains, so more flooding. We've done in a couple of hundred years, what geological processes had achieved in earlier catastrophic epochs over the course of 10s of 1000s of years.
