That's exactly what I was thinking. There's clearly "gameplay" (in the largest quotes I can possible imagine) in those videos, but there is no player interaction. The camera movement isn't suitable for player control and there isn't a menu up, so there's no way the player is controlling anything. It's clearly an auto-battler. The graphics are nice, but it's a pointless waste of any talent anyone's putting in to the project.

"In most of these crypto games, the majority of people don't care about the game. They see it as a vehicle to make money. They don't care if it comes out. They don't care if it's good. So long as the token 'moons.' And that's why this industry is an absolute joke to me at the moment." Perfect summary.

So instead of bashing the idea of blockchain gaming due to the lame opinions of the majority, it’s probably best to be objective and look at the full impact. More money can be made off of a fun game. @Lassi Kinnunen 81 EA has to pay a lot less employees to do physical jobs if they utilize a “DAO” token model.. and they’ll have to chase demand in order to stay competitive. If people want to be able to buy groceries with the things they earn while playing games, and I think they will, EA will have to adapt and stay state of the art. People will want gaming to be more fulfilling, especially the competitive gamers imo. I wish I could have sold many of the BoE items I gained from rare MMO’s drops over the years. Would’ve been nice to have the option for all my hours grinding to actually be able to pay for my life to a degree. Seems like this will bring more people into gaming and grow the audience overall. Many adults refuse to game because it seems like a waste of time, but I think blockchain solves that.

@@smatchimo645 A lot of it is trash. The big problem is that crypto games don't know how to monetize themselves. Take for example the Play-2-Earn moniker that so many are quick to slap on their game. It makes no sense because there are going to be 2 groups of people, the investors and the players. Investors boost the economy of the game by bidding up the price of NFT's and the coin behind the game, while the majority of players, especially those from low income countries, will invest nothing into the game and only take value out of the game by grinding currency and then selling it. Crypto games really should have started at the simplest point with a normal game, and skins/equipment that can be bought and sold for crypto. Instead so many of them focus on over complicated economies that don't cover up the fact that the gameplay is lackluster.

"Game first, crypto second" - I had this exact thought the other day. And I don't even think the "right" concept of implementing crypto in a proper MMO would be that hard. Just tie the in-game currency to whatever crypto you want to have, and possibly have the ingame items be NFTs that people can trade freely, but make it so that the wallet has to be tied to the player account. Granted this would probably have whales come and pay to win the entire game, but on the other hand, the players who are there for the game would have a viable way of trading their ingame assets for actual money if they so desired. Of course, I could be talking out of my ass, and something like this is insanely hard/impossible to pull off, but I can definitely see it working, especially if the people that are actually playing have more pull on the value of the crypto than the "investors".

I like your videos, I've learned a lot about this world that I know nothing about and that I was avoiding as much as possible ("Games" + Crypto/NFTs). Games are great because they stay games. When you involve money, things changes and you lose a lot of the "soul" that make great games what they are. Very fair view across the madness. In the mainstream video games industry there have been a lot of AAA games people moving into this space this year behind the scenes. With Ubisoft's announcement even more will now. So I would expect to see a glut of NFT stuff in AAA games early next year. I don't think it has to be something bad though. As there is a lot more space to experiment with these mechanisms in a player positive way, as opposed to the video game skinned f2p loot box slot machines. Of course there is going to be a lot of that too, especially as it is a low bar to move those mechanics across.

In addition to the jetpacking segment that was mentioned, I'm willing to believe that the footage involving the two sided board/arena with all the creatures fighting is possibly actual gameplay as well, provided the game is an autobattler. This wouldn't be out of the question, as autobattlers are popular these days and offer an easy way to have multiplayer interactions without actually implementing a real time server architecture. You take snapshots of a player's board layout, and send that out to others who want to challenge them. The original player doesn't need to be present at the time and the server doesn't need to deal with turns or anything, so it cuts out a lot of the problematic bits of the server architecture. I'm basing this mostly on how repetitive and disconnected from one another the animations were in these sections. Of course, it's up to the developers to demonstrate that this was the intentional interpretation and verify what parts are or are not gameplay. Until then, just assume everything has that 'Not actual gameplay footage' message at the bottom.

@asteranx
@asteranx 2 жыл бұрын
@@KiraTV1 That's fair. You can never really tell these days and without more specific confirmation all bets are off. On my end I was chalking up things like framerate and quality differences to the battle arenas being quite small, and the exploration segment being more open and not as well optimized. The two sequences may have also been recorded on different hardware or during different stages of development. My opinion was mostly based on the camera work looking programmatic vs authored, and interaction between entities looking generic vs situational. I find that moreso than graphics quality these days, those two things are very difficult to get right in a dynamic gameplay situation and can't be solved just by having a faster computer or downloading the right asset. So when I see one scene with properly framed camera shots, well timed cuts, a character that's reacting to elements in their environment, and some degree of narrative pacing cut to another scene that's a slow circling pan at a fixed height where the same character from the first scene is repeating the same animation on a loop, the second one definitely suggests 'gameplay' to me when compared to the first.

The autobattling part is only for the fights, there is a whole other metaprogression outside of the fighting it self. The overworld to be explored, the armor and weapons to be crafted, the resources to be mined, the market place to be played! In many aspects this game is deep and we hope it will be fun! If you genuinely would like to know about illuvium, the discord is the best place to start.

Nobody is excited for the actual game. They're just here to pump their bags and then forget about it when they sell. This is crypto. Don't think all the comments that say it's going to be good is actually them caring. Right now the trend is metaverse and gaming because of Facebooks recent announcement. Once this game is released it will probably dump. Forgot to mention, that's if it ever gets released.

@@shabimtwitchtv4861 Tell me something, how is any of that supposed to contribute to the main part of the game, the autobattling? The whole point of an autobattler is that all players start out with nothing and draft a team of characters, adapting to enemy teams and the options they're given. Open world exploration and crafting contribute nothing to that, unless of course people who gather/craft more have advantages in the autobattler, which will ruin the whole point of the game to begin with. It honestly sounds like the devs googled a bunch of popular gaming terms and ended up with "autobattler" "open world" and "crafting" and are trying to bait people into thinking this is an actual game when they in fact have no idea what they're doing. Please tell me how open world is in any way supposed to contribute in a meaningful way to a drafting game.

@@TheVenhammer and that's why the stock market has big requirements. In crypto, anyone can make anything. There are no rules, so you have projects like this. But in the end, every crypto project is a joke and brings no value to the real world. It's all just one big pump and dump on people.

Plot twist: Illuvium is just a reskinned Anthem. You wondered why Anthem was abandoned? It wasn't. They just reworked it to look different and add nft to it.

9:29 That view. That view right there gives it away. The game looks like it's going to be a suped up hearthstone clone. Losts of cinema graphics, then the gameplay becomes a top-down board game/battle simulator. Calling it now. This is going to be released on mobile, like another Raid Shadow Legends.

I looked at the official trailer. There are a lot of positive comments, but it's all very static with few variation, likes and replies. I wouldn't be surprised if most of the comments are fake.

I'm just tired of the mmo players. Say they want something new, but if a game is proposed that's in any different from wow people freak out. I hope all the shit ass new world bugs and shit is them having to scrap the game they wanted to make and re start so the casual andys didn't get killed while cutting logs. We don't deserve good games.

I don't get why people are against sharing the wealth and success of a game. Instead of company's earning all the revenue everyone can have a piece of the pie. It's not something thats hard to understand crypto decentralises the wealth to everyone that participates we should be accelerating this space so we can all benefit.

I usually like your channel, but dude wtf was that about illuvium ? looks like you speak with 0 preparation and with 0 research ! they have leaked since weeks the gameplay inside unreal engine ! and it s the same. there is several leaks you can find just taking 1 min to go to the discord, and once again it s inside the unreal engine, actual gameplay. so critisism is good, but it s better when based on fact rather than just "I think this is not real and not what your going to have ingame" but of course you can not take time to get info, and just camp on your "personal thought", you re free to do that ! but you loose a lot of credibility and that s sad As I said your content are usally great
