The Hustler Casino Live Million Dollar Cash Game had it all. Incredible bluffs, huge pots & a whole lot of entertainment! This poker hand between two legends of the game is one that will go down in history. It was inevitable that Tom Dwan and Doug Polk would clash at the felt and they gave everything the poker fans were calling for!
Jonathan talks about how larger bet sizes are used in general when you are playing extremely deep stacked cash games which is one of the reasons why this pot was so large by the river!
He also talks about which types of poker hands make the best candidates to use as a semi-bluff raise. Generally they are hands that have no showdown equity but still have good equity if your opponent decides to call.
This epic showdown happened during The Million Dollar Game on The Hustler Casino Live Stream! The minimum buy-in for this high stakes poker game stood at an incredible $1,000,000!
The hand started with Doug Polk raising from the cutoff with 54ss to $3,000. Dwan responded with a 3bet to $14,000 with pocket sevens and Doug makes the easy call as the effective stack is so deep.
With $31,000 in the middle the two players take it heads up to a flop of K72dds. With middle set and the aggression lead, Dwan continues for $15,000 and Doug decides to float with a backdoor flush and straight draw.
The 6h falls on the turn and Dwan continues for $30,000 into a $61,000 pot. With an open ended straight draw but no showdown equity, Doug decides to turn his hand into a semi-bluff and raises to $115,000. Dwan goes deep into the tank and ultimately decides to just call rather than raise. The pot is a massive $291,000 as a 6 lands on the river which now gives Dwan a full house!
Dwan does decide to check on the river before facing a $420,000 bet from Polk. Again Dwan goes deep into the tank trying to figure out if he can raise and still get called by worse hands. He doesn’t think so and ultimately opts for just a call instead to the shock of many of the poker players at the table!
Doug Polk is the owner of The Lodge Card Room along with Brad Owen and Andrew Neeme. Doug has $9,500,000 in live tournament earnings and 3 World Series of Poker bracelets, along with a win in the $100k Super High Roller for $1,600,000.
Tom Dwan also known as durrrr is a 36 year old American professional poker player. He is a favorite poker player for many around the world as he grew up playing in the highest stakes cash games online before Black Friday. He was a regular on Poker After Dark and High Stakes Poker. He is known for his fearless style and big bluffs. Now, Dwan is generally playing in private high stakes cash games in Asia. He is also often seen on the Triton poker tour & has over $6,450,000 in live tournament earnings.
Jonathan Little analyzes live poker hands from TV poker shows such as Poker After Dark, Hustler Casino Live, The Lodge Poker Club & PokerGO. He also analyzes popular poker vloggers such as Rampage Poker, Brad Owen, Jaman Burton, Ashley Sleeth, Wolfgang Poker and others!
You will also find many poker hands on this channel that contain some of the biggest names in the poker world such as; Daniel Negreanu, Phil Hellmuth, Phil Ivey, Doug Polk, Garrett Adelstein, Tom ‘Durrrr’ Dwan, Dan ‘Jungleman’ Cates, Fedor Holz & many more!

Do you think Tom Dwan should have raised the river? 🤔

Probably, Doug not reraising KK is unlikely. So Doug basically has one combination of hands that beats him and several hands that would pay him, like K6, 22, 76 and perhaps aces or even some AK. Even if Doug slowplays KK sometimes it is still an easy reraise on the river.

Yes, for a few reasons, main reason being able to bluff in these spots and you cannot do that if you only raise the nuts here. And if you have bluffs in your raising range here, then and only then you can get called with worse by a player like Doug.

I think Tom knew exactly where he was at or figured out that Doug couldn't call anything more because he was holding air (missed front door on board makes it at least slightly more likely Doug has a missed flush draw). Wesley saying "I like that hand" rather than shutting up like anyone would if Doug had KK or AA (everyone likes those hands, people don't naturally state the obvious) to me makes it seem like Doug had one of those not premium hands like suited connectors that people like to play.

I think Dwan tanking was for several reasons, the fact that Doug has been critical of him for years on his podcast, the fact he called time on the turn, and a little bit that he thought he may have 66. But mostly just to get Doug. Good for him.

The announcer was right. "I like your hand" is usually going to be something speculative. Having been shown the hand, Wes would be afraid of revealing it. So if it were KK, he'd be afraid to say anything positive about the hand. He sees a speculative hand and says "I like your hand." This sounds positive, and therefore deceptive to Dwan. But he didn't say it was a strong hand. He said he liked it. So he hasn't lied and most people are uncomfortable lying. In Doug's spot a great live player might figure all this out on the fly and not bluff. Especially considering it's Dwan. Obviously, Dwan is never folding here. But I think he considered raising so heavily because of what Wes said, and that he would have called lighter as well for the same reason.

This reminds me of one of my proudest hands-which I lost. A really tight, respectable player 3 bet me from the small blind after opening with 88 from the low jack. This player’s really strong but usually underbluffs and likes to use linear sizing based on the strength of his hand. Flop comes out J86. Villain pots it for 50bb. I instantly put him on JJ or 66-he’d bet smaller with AJ, or even a large pocket pair. I call with middle set. Turn comes a 7. Checks through. River comes another 7. He pots again for 150bb. I call again. Felt like I lost the minimum when he tabled JJ. Had a reraised, I think 66 considers folding, along with any marginal hands or even 9T.

@@wsxcde21 so wrong. Doug should have bluffs and huge hand that raise the turn in position. If he has no bluffs then it becomes really easy to play against. Also, it’s better to raise the turn vs the flop for pot control when deep in draw heavy boards. Big fan of Jonathan, Doug and Dwan. So many things going on in this hand. 1st Doug shows his hand and the guy says I like this hand. Usually when you show someone a hand they try to put on a serious poker face so they don't give anything away. Then Doug floats the flop not 🚫 a fan. Dwan really steams me up with the long unnecessary tanks. Toms always been slow but he was way out of line with those tanks. The I like this hand comment probably rules out KK. (I think 🤔💬) Lastly I've been hearing people say calling the clock ⏰ can be 50-50 on weather or not 🚫 it's a good 😊 hand. In my experience it's usually a bluff. People with good hands are usually relaxed 😌😎 and trying to give their opponent time to call 🤙. People that are bluffing can't stand the sweat 💦 and want the guy to make a decision. Of course no tell is 100 percent. In my memory it seems 90 percent accurate. I don't remember anyone calling the clock ⏰ with a monster 💀 but maybe 🤔 I have selective memory.
