i had this kit around 1992-93. i remember trying to panel line the face plate with some instruction from my elementary school teacher. it was basically to have the 'steadiest hand' ever to perfectly paint those tiny lines without any mistake-removing technique like everyone does today. regardless, i was really proud of the kit for the longest time, since nu gundam has been my favorite since the movie came out. fast forward to 2020 i came back to building gunpla after 20 years of hiatus( last one was the first mg sazabi in 1999-2000 if i recalled correctly), my first kit was the rg nu of course. leaps and bounds improvement from what i can recall, and was very much amazed by how much detailed the tiny one has. just a couple months ago i decided to gave ver ka nu a try and boy oh boy it is even better imo than the rg. a true successor to this 1988 1/100 kit and i love it so much that i bought 4 more afterward planning to modify them with resin parts.

This kit is actually a reissue from 2017, released along with other older Gunpla for the grand opening of The Gundam Base Tokyo. The easiest way to tell is the box printing, wherein the original kit was printed in a matte finish while the reissue has a gloss finish. The reissue made its way to Toys "R" Us and other toy stores in parts of Asia, but has since been sold out.

Thank you for the review, I have this kit, still unbuilt. Would be a perfect video if you have put it side by side with the 2 MG Nu Gundam if you have them. Aside from that, great job

on the bright side at least they numbered the Fin Funnels normally, on the HGUC kit i was confused when i was trying to connect them together in a specific order according to the instructions which wasn't clear enough.

I wish they would have kept the die cast shoulder parts for the 2000 MG kit. Other than that it was the upgraded version of this with no stickers for color accuracy. Also no painting required either. It was my first MG and you can still find it for a decent price.

Funny story i have. When I lived in Japan, I was 6 years old and I had a friend of the same age who had a Gundam kit. Only that it's never assembled. I don't remember if he ever assembled it. Besides, we were little. Obviously we lack the skills to put together a Gunpla. It was when a decade later, when the topic of Gundam came up during the conversation, he talked about the kit. After piecing the memories together, we realized it was a NU!

I think the Nu first MG is a lot better than this. It has metal joint also, the look didn't change that much just a little bit more proportional. It's also has the "big" head.

nice review, but I was wondering about something. I good MG's of Gogg, Acgguy, Zaku II, Gelgoo & Zoc (Char's ver.) do I go for the Gouf 2.0 or the other one from MS-08 team? hat do you think?

The 2.0 is newer and uses a modified version of the Zaku 2.0's frame. If you don't mind the 'goufiness' of the original design, go for that one.

It has its own designation, which is "Full Action". Only two other 1/100 Full Action kits were made: the MSZ-006 Zeta Gundam (1985) and MSZ-010 ZZ Gundam (1986), and they have not aged well compared to the Nu Gundam.
