I actually got this kit last year it's good but it has weight issues. The diecast metal parts in the legs to do the splits, and the fin funnels will cause the kit to lean a little.

I've build both the old and new versions of this kit, and love them... my original one was purchased in 98 or 99 (but i think it was the same kit you showed) and the new one i got of amazon last year. all in all, both were a Blast to build and paint. especially when i finally got the Sazabi (of the same scale) to match the new kit... the Sazabi to match the old kit was MASSIVELY overpriced at the time (almost $400) and insanely hard to find. I did not even have to paint the thing for the most part, and yet it still looks great.

Old 90s HG were kinda crappy. HGUC is where Bandai started to hit their stride with actually decent kits. One could argue that the HGEW line was pretty good but they're still hit-or-miss.

I'd suggest the RG or one of the more modern MGs. I have this kit and it has ALWAYS had issues just standing on it's own, even with out the Fin Funnels equipped (which never stayed together or even on the Nu Gundam)

ah, so much memory, made this nearly 30 years ago. The thigh joins will be first to fail and the leg will dangle. Because the metal parts are much stronger than the plastic on the thigh joint. still a great model.

Based on my experience, it's the knee joints that go out first, as they're not strong enough to support the weight of the Fin Funnels.

For a model of the time, it was well ahead, I build mine in 2001 and I like it better then the MG because it was chunkier and have more metal parts

Of course, nothing compares the Ver.Ka when it comes to detail, articulation, and features, as well as stability. The 1/100 Full Action, however, is completely faithful to the original line art, whereas the Ver.Ka is considerably slimmer with a lot of design liberties done by Katoki to make it his own.
