Oh Julie thank you for these tutorials! I'm amazed at your work...I've been an avid miniaturist since I was a small child...I only had the library for reference during my building of the seven that I've done...four from kits and three from scratch...made almost all furniture and accessories myself using a few kits, all in 1:12 scale...I'm 57 and still working on miniatures even though I no longer have my houses...I also work in 1:6 for my great nieces Barbie house furniture and clothing...thank you again for being so inspiring!

This is the first time watching your channel and I must say you are such a talented miniature artist. For the past 2-3 years I've been creating 1:6 scale realistic furniture and watch KZbin to get inspired and learn from others. Just by viewing this one tutorial I have learned several tips and I appreciate you sharing your talent so others can benefit as well.

I was confused, I discovered, by the lingo used (I'm American). I eventually figured out that "hem" means "seam allowance" in the US and "undersheet" means either "fitted" or "flat" sheet. :) The bed tutorial is something I've been looking for. It's perfect! I've seen several of your videos and they far out do every other video I've seen. No comparison! I'm planning to buy your books starting with the Step-by-Step one. I didn't think working with wood would be achievable for me, but you've changed my mind. Using wood makes the pieces look top quality. I think I can do that. I'm very excited to start.
@JulieWarren5 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry to have confused you. I do sometimes use the American term as well, if I know them, but otherwise, I think as I'm 'showing' as I'm 'doing', it should be pretty easy to work out. :) I totally agree with you on using wood for longer-lasting, better quality pieces.

Love your work and desperately want to make this bed. One tip that I would like to give is that when sewing on smaller items that need to be turned out, if you cut the fabric at the corners diagonally after having sewn the pieces together, just a bit above where the corner of the seam is, it makes squaring up the corners much easier and gives the corners less bulk :). Thank you so much for sharing your videos with us. Your pieces are stunning.

i'm one of those that's reluctant to glue things down, but i admit it helps for a clean look on this bed.. i haven't tried it, but i'm thinking ball head sewing pins (discretely tucked under the folds) might also do the trick for those who want to reserve the option to change things up (without building a whole new bed).

Just subscribed to your channel. I have always been interested in interior design and my uncle used to make doll houses. When I was younger I wanted one of the doll houses but my aunt said "oh you are to old for that". I wish I had one. I think I may have continued on to interior design or even a craft like this making miniatures. I love your work. Where do you buy the wood pieces for your furniture? Home improvement stores, craft stores? I may just have a new hobby.

Thank you for subscribing Nancy. You're never too old for doll houses! I really hope you do take up this wonderful hobby, it would be a great outlet for your interior design ideas! I sell the wood and loads of other bits in my Etsy shop, here is a link: www.etsy.com/uk/shop/bitsandpiecesbyjulie

Fantastic video, as always. Could you secure the mattress and bedding not using glue, to allow re-dressing of the bed if needed?
@JulieWarren3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Isabel. Yes, of course, if you don't want to glue the bedding down, you can pin it, or, I have known people to use aluminium foil inside the quilt, which makes it easier to shape. Hope that helps.

Hi Julie! Another great tutorial :) You show and explain everything so clearly, it's great to watch. I've just started with the pillows but I'm a bit uncertain about the blue ones. Are they the same (size) as the striped ones, because they seem a bit larger :') Best wishes, Arlette
@JulieWarren7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Arlette. They are actually the same size, they perhaps look a bit larger as I've angled the striped ones, to show a bit of the blue behind. You can make them larger if you wish, just add a few millimeters to the template.
@arlettevanaartsen79667 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Julie! I think I'll keep them the same then, since my bed is not as width as yours is :)

I love this video . I couldn’t read the print on the template . What are the measurements ? I like to hand stitch/sew on a sewing machine things rather than glue . It ‘s something I find that it looks more real .
