Join us as we explore the extraordinary journey of a Tesla Model S P90 and its owner, Hansjörg von Gemmingen-Hornberg. This isn't just any Tesla story - it's about a car that's traveled nearly 1.2 million miles across the globe, from the busy streets of China to the vast landscapes of Africa. Discover how this Tesla, from the era of free lifetime supercharging, stood the test of time and distance, enduring 14 motor replacements and 3 battery changes under warranty. Marvel at its resilience, with the original upholstery still in great shape after all these adventures. Previously owning a Tesla Roadster with 450,000 miles, Hansjörg's passion for electric vehicles is unmatched. Now, he's set his sights on a new challenge - beating the world record mileage of a Volvo P1800. Tune in to witness a tale of endurance, innovation, and sheer driving passion.

I thought the 1.2 million miles was a flex until I heard it needed 14 motor replacements and 3 battery changes. Yet here I am with an 08 Crolla with no critical hardware changes. Just regular maintenance with 820,000 on the Odometer and the occasional tire change. With that comparison, EVs still got another decade to prove itself.

You do know that it was free of charge right? Like tesla engines are so easy to swap and they get recycled. There is no car manufacturer in the world that would dare offer an engine swap for free only tesla offers this because they knew that their older models are prone to failure. Like look at tesla now a new model 3's engine has warranty for over 300k miles.
@dominicradosta4781
@dominicradosta4781 9 ай бұрын
A combustion engine is also fairly easy to swap. You usually don't have to when you treat them right. Most people just don't have the knowledge to treat their cars as they should. That's where the electric motor is very good for most people because you can floor it as soon as you push the start button. But electric motors fail all the time, and Teslas in general do the most. The quality is so poor that it's shameful to call these things cars. The service when you receive a 120k Tesla and doors don't open, paint is scratched, things are simply missing is dogshit. This is just pathetic. Where I live, in general it's even more expensive to drive an electric car because of the prices to charge such a crap pile of engineering. Free replacement of critical components of your car because the quality is so bad that I rather would walk. I'll pass on that shit.

14 engines in an old Mercedes or Volvo would cover over ten or twenty million miles. Every Tesla owners who pay for their own engines and batteries should remember this, as well as the cost of these parts. With an internal combustion engine, engine rebuild or head replacement may count as a new engine but has relatively low cost. S new battery for the Tesla is around 20-40,000 dollars.

Its not as bad as it sounds. A gas engine is connected by fuel and coolant lines, several plugs, climate compressor, starter, generator geabox etc. are all connected to engine. If engine parts fail, you replace them. With an electric car its much different. The only connections between Car and engine are some plugs, the high voltage connctor and the driveshafts. If something breaks its simpler to switch the engine and send the broken engine for repair.
