I want to say thank you for your video. I have been in and out of model building for a lifetime. I am working on this kit right now. I do wish I would have found this video before getting started on my kit but still time to make a few changes that I like which you suggest. I cant wait to dig into more of your video's to see the cool stuff you build and what I can learn. I was fighting with that hood scoop as well. I got another kit like it so I could just cut the hole in the hood and let the 2 breathers stick out. When I saw that roll cage all glued up in the background, I made a exclamation, and said well... I have been using this kit as a kid it is a re release it's been around for many years and been used in a lot of my pro street promod builds using the back half of the frame cause it's tubbed out and would match easy to many other Chevy and gm cars from around same year to mid 70s and use the hood scope and wheels and tires and motor and other stuff out of it for other custom model cars but it is a re release it's been sold at hobby lobby for last many many years. And I have used many model a Ford grill frames as hold scoops as well since. The first time I opened and built this kit cause that's what that bottom part of good scoop looks like and is very close to same shape and sized. And after using this kit two times I decided to use the street set of tires as big old school super stock or dirt latemodel oval track tires cause street stocks and super stocks back in the day some tracks ran them on gigantic tires like the street set tires on this set so those are nice for that as well or as a big right rear for a sprint car lol

I didn't know about Michaels I do always purchase from Hobby Lobby because of there prices. Though I did just purchase from Mark over at HobbyNut for the 1991 Ford F350 Dually. But that was $50 LOL a lot for a model in my opinion but a steal compared to the prices other have had for the dually. Anyway I need to pick me one of those up and check Michaels online since there are none around me. Thanks for the video and info with tips very much appreciated. I really like where this build is going! Removing the fenderwells and the electric fan are nice authentic touches. I would have liked to see you ditch the Carter Era Mailslot scoop for something more modern like the vacuum nozzle scoops Pro Stock fan in the Nineties and 2000's. Or an tall cowl induction scoop which became popular at drag straps everywhere during the same Era. Speaking if the Outlaw Cowl hood, your friend Luka used to offer them for just about anything you could Hot Rod. The knowledge if not the molds themselves exists to recreate them. Luka, if you're reading, I'd love to see you offer those hoods again for projects like this.

I have this kit, its the AMT boxing from 1987, it's solid yellow with side graphics saying 'pro street'. It's a decent kit.

I wish hobby lobby would keep a better rotation of kits. I would LOVE for them to stock their shelves with Moebius kits. Their pick up truck kits are simply the best.

I own one moebius kit and it’s there 18 wheeler kit can’t remember the name. I went to a hobby shop last week and he had some moebius pic up trucks, but he was wanting like $40 for one.

I'm building this kit and am having a heck of time building the roll cage. Wish you had shown how you did it. I realize that one of my mistakes was painting the parts before trying to cement them together.

I picked one up at my local Walmart for 13$ and a pro street nova as well(also 13$) i keep cruising the clearance section, waiting for the next one to drop the price.(got my eye on a dirt track gto.....if the price drops from 22 to 13 like the others..... Thanks so much for the ideas!

Built this same kit in a Candy Apple Red using Alclad paints instead of the usual testors and I was very satisfied with it, came out flawless and beautiful. I'm hoping you will soon veer away from those rattle cans and step up the Airbrush usage. You will see a vast difference in the quality.

I've got a '67' Chevelle model from Revelle. The date on the box is 2011. I think i paid $20.00 + $5.00 shipping from Amazon in 2015. It's still in the box. Plastic bags with all the parts have never been opened.

On thus which was from way back I used rustoleium primer. Now I airbrush everything.

If you want to try the oval opening in the future start with your center points like you had marked on the underside and drill pilot holes and then work your way up to a bit that matches the width you want the slot to be. Then you just need to connect the 2 holes.

That's a factory tach on the dashboard but there small, they have a turn signal arrow in the tach because the tach covers the one in the dashboard. If you could turn down the speed of the Dremel, not sure if you can, but that would help from melting the plastic, maybe a drill with speed control, I know you have already finished the model just a ideal for the future.

And actually on those old race motors I had a drag car and a street stock asphalt car when I was 11 on the street stock car had a water pump only and the water pump is on a bracket that you use as the tensioner it has long slotted brackets and you use a long pry bar and have someone bolt it done in place with locktight and you just run either a electric fan or a clutch fan mounted to the crank pulley but yes just a water pump with a belt to the crank pulley only does work and has been done alot and all the time back in the day before we started running power steering on oval track cars when we started getting affordable racing small power steering pumps which nascar was using in 70&80s we finally was able to get them affordable for local track guys to use so we don't have to use a stock one that would eat up alot of horsepower or race with out one like I did when I was 11-13 lol

This kit was made by MPC way back when, and has be reissued recently by Round 2. Also, there is a Trumpeter kit that was panned due to its price and complicated engineering and high skill level. It was relatively expensive when it came out in the 2000s at 30 something bucks, and is hard to find and more expensive now.

That tach is called, " the left turn signal tach" because it covers up the left turn signal, it is the factory tach!!

anything from Round2 is a reissue... that is why they are called "round 2" ... in other words... done again. So this model is a reissue... although it may have new decals in it.. the model itself is a reissue.

Every once in a blue moon Big Lots or the 99 cent store by us will have some model car kits for $5/ea., we've snagged a couple of good ones by accident that way. Then you won't feel nearly as stupid if you jack it up so bad you just have to set it on fire & dump it in the trash.
