I ordered a 1/72 scale Academy M977 HEMTT off of Ebay and got 2 full M977 kits in the one box. I also ordered a 1/72 knuckle boom crane to make an M985 GMT, so now I can do up a 977 and a 985 for 40 bucks less than I planned.

well, when it comes to the interleaved wheels, some people just superglue all the wheels together as one piece and paint everything in one go.

yes and you will have areas where the paint will not get to, will be seen, and painting the rubber tires will be a total mess. It's just the worst possible way to build one of these vehicles

@@oddball759mm YESSSSS...finally somebody notices how awesome I am 😆And since you have such a broad knowledge of original paint colors, I'd love to hear your take on another question of mine regarding the painting of tank tracks in general: what about using XF84 DARK IRON instead of XF1 FLAT BLACK as a base color? Last year I visited a tank museum in Switzerland because they are restoring a King Tiger, and to my chagrin I was so awestruck that I completely forgot to take a closer look to the tracks! 😵‍💫

@@MikeUSA67 I'm not a fan of using the iron for tracks. The tracks would have a finish on the steel like a Parkerizing or oxide coating to prevent rust or oxidation. This is why I use either flat black or Nato black as the base for the tracks. then add the weathering washes / effects on top.

to add, the rust would develop over long periods of time specifically if left outdoors and neglected for several decades, but at most you will see the finish lighten up and would rub / scratch off over time as the vehicle is driven. Lately I have been looking at the Russian tanks in the Ukraine, and you will see lots of exposed dull steel surfaces and at times depending how old and decrypted the tank they are using is with minimal or at times no parkeriaztion left. but the tracks are still not rusty... even in the condition that many of these bottom of the barrel tanks are in
