I'd imagine most if not all of that concrete is reinforced with rebar. I kinda did some of my own personal research into the subject after what happened in Surfside. Concrete has high compressive properties but lower tensile strength which makes it prone to cracks. I've heard the main causes of failure are due to moisture eroding away at the rebar. This can be alleviated by feeding epoxy into the cracks. I think that may be the white stuff leaking through. They probably used a generous amount and that's what those covers(?) are for so that stuff doesn't get on peoples' vehicles.

Makes you wonder how they build those parking decks in the first place. Do they poor the deck on the floor and raise them into position or do the support them underneath and pour the concrete? Either way, the cracks are a cause for concern because if rebar was used as reinforcement, the water inside the cracks could cause corrosion and lead to failure. All of those cracks need to be sealed with epoxy in a way that prevents water from entering the concrete. You would hope that those parking decks are made out of some sort of beams that doesn't depend on the concrete structurally. But that would cost 10x more that reinforced concrete so I doubt that.

Some of those cracks are actually cut in as expansion joints, they are needed for expansion and contraction of concrete, as for the walls the it doesn't look like they have them also the concrete looks like it was cured to quickly but the cracks on ramp were meant to be there for expansion

The Kirkland franks at Costco are the best that can be bought where I live. I like 'em better than Nathan's or Hebrew National. I really love the flavor and texture of them.

Costco dogs are good with the onions- I don't drink soda either but splurge with a half cup of real soda and lots of ice to dilute- Had a strawberry sundae at C and was in heaven 😋

Yes Costco is a very good dog at a crazy price. Relish is very good. They steam their 🌭 at the Costco by me in NJ. The Teterboro Costco is a great experience and always crazy busy. None of that indoor parking.

I'm no engineer, but I worked in a beautiful office building that had amazing views and they made us move out because they determined that the underground parking garage was structurally unsound. The building's been vacant for about 12 years now. And I never really noticed anything unusual in the underground garage - that one looks a whole lot worse!

It is cheaper in the States for sure, but this example isn't representative. It's a deal very specific and iconic to Costco, brings them a ton in marketing in of itself.

Isn't Costco relish just relish from Heinz? Last time I saw them loading up the relish dispenser, they had a giant bag of Heinz relish. Their ketchup and mustard is also from Heinz.

The cracks don't bother me so much. It happens in formwork concrete pours. Air gets trapped. The rust however means that the steel reinforcement is failing. That is an issue. Structural engineering was my job.

Not just behind the counter, at one time it was out at the buffet table with the ketchup and mustard along with onions too. They pared down all that extra stuff I guess to reduce costs during Covid and I dont think its coming back sadly.

@@nestorvasquez7263 Coming across this video a year later I have to update and say this is no longer true. Costco has cracked down on membership sharing and people sneaking into the foodcourt. Technically youve always needed a membership to buy food but it was selectively enforced, now they require membership for everything except optometry and they definitely do check!! ...My sister got caught trying to buy a pizza about 6 months ago without her own card, but she had our moms member card (so its not like costco isnt getting their membership dues you know) and an employee was checking peoples cards at the register and pulled her aside when the photo didnt match and basically berated her acting like she was committing fraud or something. It was absurd and soured me on costco a little bit. The funny thing is being from Seattle area my Grandparents were members at the very 1st costco back in the early 80s, our family is like multi-generational costco members. So youd think theyd care about keeping us as customers. I still think theyre a great deal even if youre just buying gasoline. But they need to chill out a bit.

I believe the real price of the hot dog and soda with free refills would be like 4.50 if a business were to sell it and had to make profit. The real food cost for costco is probably 1.40 with the hot dog, bun, condiments, soda. Electricity, labor is costcos loss to get you in the door.

Cement is never water proof. More porous doesn’t bother me, just cheaper construction. Most of the cracks are meaningless. Some concern me. Not the absolute expert though.

It’s more enjoyable to see someone eating/enjoying the dogs. Staring at concrete while someone reviews food really kills the immersion. Maybe consider getting a cheap tripod. 😊

Poor construction materials! Bad mixes... someone cheated the company and skimmed monies from the materials which are compromised. Did someone say major lawsuit? I would stay away from parking at that garage!! Yes, you can't beat Costco hot dogs with a stick. One issue I have is they have is they cut out the sauerkraut which makes a real New York hot dog. Take away the soda and give me the liberty cabbage!!

Plus, they are overcharging. It is still $1.50 in my area. Haha. NY price gouging. Not gonna lie, those Canadians get to buy wings at their Costco. I would trade our chicken bake for wings. They did raised the price once for a short time but lowered it back.

I love hotdogs but I’ve had a hotdog from Costco twice and it was way way to soft no snap, felt like paste and no taste. Maybe they’re different in the states than Canada
