Assembly of the engine for the Alfa.
The fit of the parts was a bit tight, so this wasn't an easy step so far

Your paintwork on this engine is spectacular. May I ask (1) What brand/Type of airbrush you use and (2) What brand of colors you use? Thanks!
@TMModelkits
@TMModelkits Жыл бұрын
Thank you The airbrush is one of those cheap ones, nothing major; the metallic paints are all from AK interactive Xtreme Metal range, all painted over a black undercoat

To see the crankshaft, the cylinders, the pistons and the overhead camshafts is so nice ! Maybe you won't see a lot of it after completion, but you know it's there. And it also gives you an idea how technology evolves from early 1900's Fiat F2 (you did before this one) to more modern cars. I know these kits are not perfect, but if you complete it you have achieved something to be really proud of. Nice video's, not too long. Unbelievable: only 30 likes! Thank you very,very much for showing !!!!!!!!! BTW you're a seriously good model builder.

Thank you very much Ed, The cylinder head is detachable so it is possible to see the pistons after complete, these kits require a lot of effort just to only assemble them

Very interesting videos . Congrats! I am about to build the same model and I have a couple of questions : Do you paint all the parts or only the red body ? What color do you use ? Do you use an airbrush ? Thank you for your reply . Best regards , Adrian

Thank you Adrian. Yes, I always paint all the parts, mainly with an airbrush, for the metal parts I use AK interactive xtreme metal range; all the others vary from Tamiya, Zero colors and Gravity colors

Parts fit in Pocher models has always been somewhat of an issue: more of a nuisance than a real problem though. More experienced modelers will make changes to facilitate fit. I have built 6 of them since the late 1960s. Now Pocher (Hornby) is making die cast metal body and frame kits that should be significantly better. I am waiting for their 1:8 scale Lotus 72 F1 car to be delivered in the next few weeks, so we will wait and see!

I've built he ducati panigale, it's better for sure, but still a lot of trouble, and... forget about the instruction manual again
@Loulovesspeed

@@TMModelkits - I also have the Panigale and couldn't agree more on the instructions! I have Agora's 1:8 Mercedes W196 F1 car on order. It is the same model made by IXO. I'm almost done with Agora's 1:8 427 Cobra S/C and the instructions are ok, but not written: you have to download and print out or have your computer in your workshop, which I don't. Printing them out would be a task, almost 400 pages, and an expensive one from an ink supply standpoint. I found the instructions on line for IXO's Mercedes and they are absolutely incredible, by far the finest I have ever seen. Close up color prints, clearly marked, of each step and the corresponding parts and #s. I have never seen instructions of that quality from any model maker ever! I have been a model builder for just about 68 years now and have never grown tired of building and detailing metal kits with many hundreds of parts. It is a rewarding hobby that offers a great deal of satisfaction when you start with a pile of undistinguishable pieces, and ultimately end up with a beautiful finished model.

I am building the Lotus 72D from Pocher at the moment! It is a very detailed and more accurate kit when compared against the IXO Porsche 917KH I am also building! However, the instructions are much the same as the Panigale R, just B&W exploded single views of each stage, and working out where parts go is often a case of scratch your head! It will be a beautiful kit when complete, but it is far from easy! Made more so by the awful instructions!

@@davidgriffiths4844 - As I had mentioned earlier, I have built 6 Pocher kits since the late 1960s and there has always been issues with their many times vague instructions. I assume you are aware the the Lotus 72 is no exception. Hornby, the parent company, issued revised instructions before the model was even released - make sure you get them as there were a number of errors in the original ones. To be honest, I had the Lotus 72 on order, then decided to cancel it as I am 74 and don't want half the fun of building the kit taken away by piss poor instructions. I build models for the relaxation and satisfaction and that is just not possible with Pocher's outdated, B&W distorted instructions. Look on line for building videos of the IXO and Agora Mercedes W196R and you'll see a huge improvement in the building plans. Close up, color photos or at least computer generated ones, from different angles, and all very clear and concise. I have one of these on order and can't wait to receive it. I am currently completing Agora's 1:8 427 Cobra S/C and its instructions are very enjoyable and easy to comprehend. Best of luck to you with the Lotus 72.

@@Loulovesspeed I have the Ducati and the Alfa. I also have the Bugatti B50. I had the die cast Testarossa (It was so poor I threw it in the bin). The Ducati is daft in that the screws are phillips. The fit on all these kits are poor. I have the Build CD's for all of these and a screw kit for the Ducati. The cars do not have paint instructions and the bare plastic looks awful. Despite that with work (a huge amount) good kits can be made. I intend to get the 72D only if a transkit comes out for it.
