Areet decimal tenths ur videos are mint and very informative thank u. Am doing a 1.8t build my crank is scoured to bits cause I spun cyl 4 big end bearings and they partially seized to crank. So am gonna get the 2l crank. Av got a question cos am local where in Newcastle do you take your block for machining? and also can I just use the stock pistons and bore with 2l crank? Im doing a 400- 500bhp build. Thanks

Question for you, I have watched and learned this process you teach over the last 2 years and now that I am finally building one of my own I have a question. Would you build a high-performance engine with the tightest possible tolerances? Say the mains on the crank, for example, are OEM dimensions, 54.00mm minus the tolerance of .017 = 53.983. Would you build a high-performance engine with that tight of a tolerance? That is what I think would be perfect and fresh for a new engine, right?

Good question 👍. In our experience of building engines commercially now also, is that as long as you are within tolerance then you are fine. There is arguments for tighter tolerances which improve oil pressure but cause a huge loading on the oil which creates heat, coupled with no allowance for warpage in the block or main caps due to torque. Another take on it generally, is a slightly looser tolerance, which allows a fast oil transfer across the bearings, less heat and a margin of space for movement. Oil thickness/heat rating, cooling and pumping capabilites have to be matched to each option.

This one was a 2.0 FSI crank, also use a TFSI version.

Hi there, this crankshaft is an 06AF crank from a 2.0 FSI engine. Commonly found in vag group engines 2005-2010 ish i believe

Hello sir Will put a 06af crankshaft in a BAM engine Can i use all these crankshafts ? Many are using the 2.0 tfsi crank but i cant find one in a good condition... The crankshaft i bought looks like yours Its from an caddy ecofuel 2.0 engine code BSX Stroke is 92.8 Is there any differences or all these cranks are hardened ? Hi there yes you can use an 06AF crank. They aren't forged, but will support 500bhp yes.
