It is amazing how he got to 2,000 yards with Christian "Freaking" Ponder as his QB! The Defense knew AP was gonna run and he still got 2,000!

Exactly..while coming back from an acl & mcl tear as well. His comeback was exciting and you rooted for him the whole season. To get 2k in the nxt yr after a major injury is insane..and to be less than 10yds from the record is why he was a cyborg when he was young. He seemed indestructable

He came back earlier than expected, also. I think it was Bill Simmons who said something like, "The Super Bowl half-time show should just be Adrian Peterson standing at mid-field peeing into a cup." lol That's how incredible this was.

22 people on the field knew the only chance of success was Peterson getting the football and it worked anyway, absolutely unreal. If only Leslie Frasier wasn't a clueless ass he'd most likely also have the single season record.

Nah Peter Schrager that was a dumb take. He tore both his MCL and ACL and came back in just 8 months... he rushed for almost 2100 yards with nothing but an offensive line. Teams knew all the vikings could do was rush the ball that season but they couldn't stop AP. This performance will never be forgotten. People come back from injuries but not like he did.

That team had no right being in the playoffs. I say this not only as someone watching that team close, but with fans and family members who were still attached to the organization internally at the time. There are few times you feel a player could transform a team. But he was absolutely dragging the team forward in a way few people ever have. I know he doesn't have the record for rushing, but you cant tell me ever Dickersons was more impressive. Especially considering the injury he had on top of it with the hernia, a injury that many people would struggle to play through let alone at the level he was, around week 10. He had almost 3 200 yard performances following that, 4 150+ yard performances. That's incredible. I remember people openly questioning how good a RB he was prior to that injury. The only question after has been when will this guy go into the Hall. Total freak athlete, its been a pleasure to watch him.

Because of Peterson he changed the timeline on how you deal with this injury. It was always your out 12 months you come back and then the following year your 2nd year back is when you should be back to normal. But Peterson did it in less than 9 months because he got hurt in December then came back to start the season then had a MVP year and i remember people ridiculing the Vikings for rushing him back to fast.

When you consider that AD tore his ACL & MCL towards the end of the 2011 season and came back like nothing happened, it deserves to be number 1. It takes most players a couple of games to a full season to feel like themselves. AD has totally changed the standard when it comes to sports medicine and recovery time.

And its not just the injuries themselves, its not just the position, its the fact that the Vikings legitimately had no direction at that time and he dragged them to the playoffs, arguably. On top of that, he had an injury during the final few games of that season when he really started pouring it on thats near debilitating levels of pain for some backs, and gear limiting for others.

I can say as someone who watched him most of his career, he definitely was not the same as he was before. But a crippled Adrian Peterson ran for 2000 yards 8 months after he blew his knee out. His instincts, jump cuts, IQ, power, competitiveness... Just off the charts. Absolutely unreal that a player could do what he did, but it doesn't surprise me that AD did it. The guy has only one gear and it's violent, no holds barred, aggressive type of running. This is the last guy any defender wants to see coming at them.

With all due respect to the players who made the top 10, failing to include Rocky Bleier on the list is a travesty. As a Vikings fan since their Super Bowl years, I have no love loss for any of the 70s Steelers, but Bleier's comeback is second to none in the NFL's modern era. After his rookie year in Pittsburgh, he gets drafted into the US Army and volunteers for service in Vietnam. He sustained a bullet wound to the left thigh and a grenade blast leaves him with a partial right foot and leg full of shrapnel. He's awarded a bronze star and purple heart. Upon his discharge, he rejoins the Steelers and within 4 years he not only rehabs from his WAR INJURIES well enough to be a contributing member of an NFL team, but earns the starting fb spot, wins four Super Bowls as lead blocker for HOF rb Franco Harris and even rushed for over 1000 yards as a FULLBACK in 1976, which was a 14 game, no bye week season.

I don't know what the hell Peter Schrager was getting on about?! Smfh. All the players he mentioned made their comebacks. Much later than AD. And thus, had the huge benefit of significant advancements in Modern Medicine! And none of them came back from tearing 2 knee ligaments, in 8 months! Ppl forget, AD got injured towards the end of the season. Which makes his coming back at the start of the next season, unheard of. Ntm, AD came within 9 yards of breaking the single season rushing record. Not all MVP awards, are equal. Schrager just sounds like an ignorant, Johny come lately, who didn't actually watch Adrian's performance that season. Greatest comeback from injury in sport's history!💯

I know his comments just seemed to take away from the rest of the video dont even know why they included him in this video. AP comeback was phenomenal and anyone who has had ACL surgery would know this.
