There will be a brand new heaven and earth, but I'm going out on a limb here because I don't think that the new earth is going to be as small as our earth is today. The New Jerusalem is about 1,500 miles squared, and it's also going to be 1,500 miles high. Right now the highest mountain from sea level is Mount Everest is the tallest mountain on Earth, standing at 5.5 miles high. That means that the New Jerusalem is about 273 times that height! But you have to remember that our bodies are going to be of a different kind of flesh, the same kind of flesh as the risen Savior. That's more grandiose than any of us can imagine. Many scholars say that the New Jerusalem is going to be a cube, but again, I'm thinking outside the box (pun intended) because I believe that it's going to be a perfect pyramid, such as has never been seen throughout the universe. Man and fallen angels have repeatedly tried to duplicate the things of God, but we can never be close to the glory of God, even in our eternal state. Right now if the New Jerusalem was to land on earth (softly might I add) it would be 18.93% of the Earth's diameter! That seems like it would easily make the world wobble like a drunken man.
