When you enforce religious unity, the country's capital always converts. So you didn't have to take Wurttemberg's second province, as the CoR was in their capital province. Really good RNG there.

I have a, "Ludi was right" comment from a video you made years ago. I've always been a fan of your videos for years and as I've said before, they're what got me really into EU4 (thanks for the addiction). But there was one achievement that kept alluding me and in theory it is not a difficult one, but I kept struggling with it. That achievement is the, "Good King Rene" achievement. My desire for this achievement started with Ludi's Provence guide from many years ago. In that video he says something along the lines of, "You want the cores on Naples, not the union, if you can act early enough." I thought that was wrong. Of course you want the union! An army that doesn't drain your manpower. ... Well, fast forward a couple of years later and I decide to retry a Good King Rene run, but this time, rather than waiting for Aragon to release Naples and then take the mission, so it is a PU CB, I click it while they still belong to Aragon, so it is now cores. IT MADE THE GAME SO MUCH EASIER. I was a fool for questioning Ludi on this. I hope you'll forgive me. But seriously, complete Dithmarschen guide, when?

one thing i've noticed as austria is that the game is essentially won if hungary gets moldavia. both poland and the ottomans will declare losing wars because they can't figure out how a subject of a subject works. even if both attack at the same time, it's a pretty easy to white peace one and steamroll the other with spain, burgundy and the hre electors on your side

Something I have always thought that EU4 is missing is highlighted by this run. Historically, all the interesting things that happened to Austria would be disasters in this game. In a good run, like this one, you do not have to deal with any of this. The game comes more about painting maps (which is fun) instead of creating stories. One day I think we will get a game like EU4 that lets you make more stories.

I didn't even know it was possible to form the HRE as a nation until you mentioned it a couple videos back and I decided to do a playthrough aimed at that and holy schnpadoodles it was easy. Hell Once I became the HRE and took over all of Europe (from the Pyrenees to the Arctic Circle to Moscow) it wasn't even fun anymore, everything was too easy.

For the nations that were not in the HRE yet, if they are small enough you can do both "Expand Empire" and make them your vassal to add them to your vassal hive. Since they get added to the HRE they do not count as a diplo relation when vassalized.

I'm behind a few versions, so I might be suggesting something that's already happened, but I'd like for the Restoring the _____ Theme missions to instead be Decisions you can take which gives the buffs for when you finish taking them, while the mission simply gives you the cores and perhaps conquest buffs when fighting in those regions.

Couple month ago did my first world conquest and one faith run with Austria. Not gonna lie, it was very fun, very exciting and even kind of chill play, especially consider that I decided to turn my company into OF WC after 1550s, because by that time I already had literally all of Europe including Iberia and Great Britain through PU's, and also half of Russia by conquering them. Very, very cool and strong nation.

Especially if you go for AEIOU achievement, horde of vassals that your enemies have to deal with at the same time is pretty much victory for you, you even may not send your armies anywhere, the vassal horde will do everything for you.

Invite to Empire does not give IA, and is virtually impossible to trigger without vassalizing them. If you vassalize them, it is VERY likely they will voluntarily join, which does provide IA.

At the same time, My point that I actually want to convey and emphasize are the first two paragraphs I mentioned because most of the time, people are quite confused about that. The Emperor can use any means necessary to add new nations to the Empire after passing the Erbkaisertum Reform and diplo-vassalized them as Diplomatic-Slot-Free Vassal Princes even before passing Revoke the Privilegia Reform. Many who like building great HRE vassal swarm such as myself should know this and use that to the best advantage. Besides, when someone argues that when having passed Revoke the Privilegia Reform and adding new nations to the Empire after, they will NOT IMMEDIATELY become HRE Diplomatic-Slot-Free Vassal princes. It’s true. Then whenever one has spare inactive diplomats at that point, why don’t they just use them to build up necessary arrangements with those Non-Vassal HRE Princes and turn them into HRE Diplomatic-Slot-Free Vassal princes to further boost their contributions to the Emperor? They will say it’s minimal issue. But They who say this are the ones who claim that they prefer min-max HRE Vassal Swarm playstyle 😂 What I suggest is just that, isn’t it? If one says they will unite HRE under one Tag soon, then why on Earth would they say they like keeping HRE vassal swarm around 😂

@@VoxDargard Another point to add is that after passing the Erbkaisertum Reform, the Emperor can gain Imperial Authority MUCH MORE EASILY than before. That includes what you just suggested too. At that point, one should not just focus on gaining Imperial Authority, instead one should more focus on adding more nations to HRE before passing Revoke the Privilegia Reform and , at the same time, starting DIPLO-Vassalize HRE Princes whenever opportunities arise as they will not cost the Emperor’s diplomatic slots as we have already discussed.

When I did my Austria run after revoking the privilege. If I expanded empire and then diplo vassaled that nation, they wouldn’t count towards my diplo slots and became the same as the rest of the HRE vassal swarm. Apologies if this has changed this was a couple of patches ago after Lions.

Is it not also the case that if a vassal has their capital in HRE even after taking the reform they will become a HRE vassal and not take up diplo slot? And I think you can add all your Land to HRE even if you haven't cored the land, hence taking land and releasing vassals is in many ways better (although unlike releasing people then forcing them in I imagine it would take more AE)

This doesn't get you bonus Imperial Authority though. You can get the IA for the provinces by diplo vassalizing them after you release them if they voluntarily add themselves to the HRE, which occurred in almost every case during my run that I'm doing right now. But it's frankly a little awkward mechanically, and just letting the truce timer time out and then declaring expand empire on them is better most of the time. The one thing I would say is that releasing larger nations is better than smaller ones as they are much less likely to get revassalized or reconquered if you miss your timer for some reason. Also, it's just less total wars which is better... for me.

You should be thinking about nation flipping soon..... rush Austrian missions for claims but consolidate Italy and Balkans. Maybe even wipe France out but take Frankish land for yourself. ;) Still trying to figure out the order I want to flip nations AND keep my AE down while I take the cores I need. I found that once you revoke, it is easier to attack than to annex vassals once you have the -1 stab reduction reform and bump it back up using papal points. The Annex other vassal penalty gets to big late game if you do too many OPM's to gain cores for nation flipping.
