This looks like a great course. MITOCW has been releasing excellent content this past few years, keep it up.

I wanted to take this course as a revision for specific points in biophysics and comuputational neuroscience, but I was surprised with the professor's capability of giving amazingly simple, yet perfect, explanations for nontrivial concepts. Thanks for making such classy lectures available for free.

After looking through the courses offered at MIT in the BCS department I've realized that the Neuroscience department at my university (New Hampshire) is a joke. No coding, no modeling, just a bunch of general general Bio and Chem courses combined with Psychology and Zoology courses. I'm going to have to work 3 times as hard lol.

@@manudasmd Try to learn the concepts as they come along. They already said differential equations and linear algebra would be the extent of math you require to follow this. Try the essence of linear algebra by 3blue1brown. He has something on differential equations too I guess. Good luck!

@@ezio934 Yes, there is a ocean of difference between Artificial neural Network and Neuroscience. But, Hubel and Wiesel's work certainly helped in Convolutional Neural Network!

Need some help understanding at 1:04:56. Why as the electric field decrease (due to the increase in L) the drift velocity would increase?
@arthvidyarthi8974
@arthvidyarthi8974 2 жыл бұрын
This is because we're assuming a change in only one variable at a time (in this case the length L) and keeping current constant. If you increase the distance that the particles have to travel but want to maintain the same value for your current, then the particles would have to move faster, hence the increase in drift velocity.
