I am myself a Quant Analyst Intern right now in one of the less known firms based out of Gurugram. I would like to clarify that the bonus component in the salary of these companies is mostly variable and is a certain percentage of what your code or research helped them to earn. So the better you work the better your bonus is. Moreover in some companies this bonus is credited quarterly and trust me if you start working for these companies you won't even think about the base salary which you are getting since bonus is the target of most employees over here.

Hey bro! I’m a second year CSE student at VIT. I am really interested in pursuing a quant role preferably a Quant trader, after my graduation but as far as I know there hasn’t been an hire for such roles from my university so I don’t really know what kind of a resume should a quant guy have. There have been hires from companies which also hire for quant roles but for some other role. As you’re working as a Quant Analyst yourself, I just wanted to ask you that what kind of an resume should I build up which could give me an edge over other applicants for such a role? Right now I don’t really have a very strong resume, I just know basics of coding in C++ and python, a little bit of DSA and basics of Machine Learning. Going forward I want to build up a targeted resume for the Quant role so I need your advice. I also wanted to know about any internship opportunities in this space which I could maybe apply for before my graduation. I would really appreciate it if you could help me.

Generally, for the Quant researchers roles, they hire from IITs only because they need people who are excellent in mathematics and all. But they are other roles too which are open for all people.

Bhaiya leki ye companies Keval Top IITs se hi hire karti and vo with JEE rank less than 1000 and only in CSE , mathematics and computing, EEE,ECE Toh aap esi quant companies ka batao Jo Off Campus hire karti hai from Tier 3. Because maine in companies ke career page dekha hai and they require JEE rank and only hire from premium institutes, this was written in the job description.
