1 dead, 2 injured in west Charlotte crash

One person has died and at least two others were seriously injured in a west Charlotte crash. Those transported to the hospital with injuries include at least two Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officers.
As a result of the large, ongoing police investigation, traffic is being impacted by the closure of the Interstate 485 outer loop ramp to Mt. Holly Road. This is Exit 14.
Around 10 a.m., CMPD officers were on the offramp investigating a vehicle that had possibly been reported stolen. As officers were investigating, they were struck by another moving vehicle. As a result of the crash, an officer was pinned inside his vehicle and had to be extracted from his car.
