After experiencing near-total writer's block for a DECADE, I've finally snapped out of it and written 9 songs in the last 30 days. My plan is to keep writing, and writing, and writing. By committing EVERY MORNING before work to lyrics exercises and EVERY NIGHT to songwriting and recording after work, I've been writing almost 2 songs per week. When I hit 50 songs written and rough-draft recorded, I'm going to select the top 10 that have the most potential (following the 80/20 rule). Then I'm going to rewrite, rewrite, rewrite until those 10 are as polished as I can get them. Then gonna record and produce the final 10 tracks. Only then will I even THINK about starting to significantly promote my music. I only want people hearing my BEST WORK. Along the way I can already feel myself rapidly getting better. I understand more about the songwriting process than ever before, and I'm discovering my creative voice. NOTHING could feel better to me than that. I've dreamed about this for years and I'm finally taking action in my little home studio. Biggest trick is - DO NOT THINK TOO FAR AHEAD. Follow the daily routine. Finish one song at a time. Try to make it as strong as possible. Then move on. Do NOT think too far ahead. Focus one song until it's finished. Come back and rewrite later, when you've learned more and the song's flaws are more clear to you. This is working for me. I am so excited to share these tracks with YOU when they're ready.

I have this same problem.. I have just started producing.. l just bought a keyboard and a guitar.. I don't play piano or guitar.. yet.. but I've been writing since I was 13 with a couple year-long breaks.. now I have alot of ideas and so much to put into motion. I can only focus on one thing at a time so it all comes down to time management.. doing all this on top of being a dad is not a cup of tea but it's possible

Brilliant video. I have no problem with writing lyrics & singing &/or rapping them, its the combining them with music that I stress about even though I've learnt a lot about music production. But I need to get over that hurdle & keep learning & practising. Definitely gonna dedicate 3 hrs a day to producing music & turning all my lyrics into actual songs. Love your videos. If or should I when I win a reward for my music & holding my trophy & doing my speech & thanking fans, etc, I will definitely mention your name.

I have been learning the rewrite and re-work involved. I think it is probably one of the hardest obstacles to overcome. And has a big learning curve. And it really comes down to time and discipline, but crossing this barrier will lead you into that limitless area. I can feel it.
@dq8905 жыл бұрын
My issue is when working on a project, I tend to come up with melodies or chord progressions that inspire another song. I open a new project to note it down and somehow get sidetracked with a new creative process. Hence songs never really get finished.

Last year in June 2018 (haha) I set myself a challenge to pick up rapping from scratch when one of my friends encouraged me heavily when I showed her some initial crappy protos and the ideas. Had to forge my anger and frustration into something creative otherwise I would go mental. I set myself to make 100 song prototypes in a year, which I did and even went over the goal. Mind you these were not mastered songs but rather "sound sketches", a way for me to figure out the style (the idea for the themes and the visual side was already figured out as I'm also a videographer and marketer making brands for a living) so that I can consciously improve where I'm lacking. Along the way ideas for Singles and EPs came as well and right now I'm making a database of all the songs showing potential in order to divide into "segments" by theme or tone (I rap multilingually - English, Polish, Spanish - so what I have in a way is access to 3 different demographics). Keep your fingers crossed bros, love you all! Also thanks for the video, made me think a bit deeper into my creation processes, best of thoughts to everyone else trying to figure out their creations! :)
