Just had to leave my job with the National Park Service due to my declining health, and though I'm really bummed about it, I suppose videos like these should make me a little thankful. @@mollylollipops Some regular odd stuff like baby bears making noise all around us at night. Way before my short time was some true crime shit with a ranger who went missing. He was cheating on his wife with a park intern who got pregnant. One day he walked to one of the ranches from HQ and he was just never seen again. Some supernatural stuff, too. I was in my tent eavesdropping when three or four of my crew mates started freaking out over what they were seeing. They reported a big, orange light come up from over the mountain and start moving right and left in the trees before trailing off. During a huge storm at night everyone in camp said they woke up to the sound of loud voices. When I toured the previously mentioned ranch I was feeling really weird and emotional the whole time and sort of out of my body and I remember hearing too many footsteps for our group. The best experience though? This sounds really, really silly and minor but one day I saw a weird bug crawling towards me at HQ. It had wings but couldn't fly. Picked it up so one of our Natural Resource guys could ID and they had no clue. After that I realized it was actually a freshly hatched (emerged?) moth trying to start it's new life! For the next hour I kept it on my hand and watched her gorgeous, huge wings slowly unfold and dry out. Had to leave her on a tree when I went to dinner. She was still there when I got back- she appeared to be waiting until nightfall to fly away. She pooped on one of the guys and he was so chill with it I almost died. The people I met and the stories I heard were fucking awesome too. Every type of person with every type of life all there connecting over the same thing- their love for something bigger than them.

My PopPop was stationed at Camp Carson, right before WW2 and he trained with the mountain division! When the war was over, he returned back to Carson & worked there for a few years. I'm pretty sure he was one of the searchers for these poor lads. :( He spoke about doing S & R's, and some of the horrors of what that job entails, its really sad, and that stuff stays with you. My Mom was born in 1950, and thats when he came back to PA to work closer to home, so He was definitely there at this time. He used to tell me stories about his training, and that he saw "some really crazy things in those mountains that we wouldn't ever see in the city." He talked about seeing UFO's, lights/orbs, and other strange phenomena that he couldn't even begin to wrap his head around, even years later. He passed away three years ago, he & my Nan were together for over 70 yrs! She misses him terribly and cries several times a day. :( He was the sweetest, most open-minded & wisest man that I know. He went over to Italy, Germany & also France - He helped win the war. He was a sergeant in the Army (Bob Dole was in his regiment, I think!) I used to love to sit & listen to his war stories. They really don't make them like him anymore - he was tough as nails, but was also a big teddy bear! He won a purple heart, a medal of honor & one other medal (i forget) At his funeral, Army vets came, all in uniform, and a few other military veterans from the area came, too. They gave Nan an American Flag & they did the gun salute, shooting rifles into the sky, in his honor - it was really lovely & so memorable. My Nan was hugging & kissing the boys (& one woman!) thanking them for their service & for coming to honor Pop, she just kept saying "He would've loved to see this! He would've loved this soo much!" I think He knows, Nan. We love & miss you, PopPop! xo Rest in Power, Thomas M. MacDonald

Others have said the same about cruise ships not vetting their staff to weed out criminals. A story on the news reported about a Thai steward who misunderstood a passenger and became enraged. I don't believe that all these passenger overboard cases are in fact accidental.

Actually that makes no sense because if there was a murderer they could prosecute them themselves and not have to worry about anything? Sure there might have been a murderer on board but that can happen vs if the cruise line is at fault they would try to hide that because it would make the rest of the passengers scared to even be on the ship if it turned out it was negligence.

Time mark 39:00... It is literally impossible to "fall overboard" on a modern cruise ship. These ships are designed precisely for what they're being used for. Rails on ships deck are high, removing all chance of people accidentally falling over them. Rails on stateroom balconies are also high. A person simply cannot "fall over something" that is chest high. Or, even a little above waist high. The human bodies center of gravity just won't allow that to happen. A well known fact is that MANY people mysteriously go missing while on cruises. And because of lack of jurisdiction, and things like being in international waters etc., puts a severe damper of law enforcements ability to investigate, people usually conclude that these deaths are likely intentional. Of course that conclusion isn't verified, but does make sense. The cruise lines themselves tend to immediately claim suicide, as in intentionally jumping overboard, because this in essence gets them off the hook for in any way being responsible for the death.

I have a theory for the missing shoes or only the shoes being found (and this has likely been brought up before and I just haven’t seen it). It obviously won’t explain every case, but what I think happens is this: you are lost and disoriented. Walking for hours a day, in rough terrain, but not making progress. Whatever type of shoes / boots are on your feet, you are going to get blisters. Awful ones that may be infected. And you feel you cannot walk another step. I’ve been on hikes where the blisters on my feet hurt so bad, I’d take off my shoes and sometimes walk with just socks or, if the ground was soft enough, barefoot. Anything but putting my shoes back on. If I became extremely dehydrated, suffered from exhaustion, began to lose hope, I could see leaving my shoes behind. Again, it doesn’t explain every incident by any measure, but it may make sense in some cases.

Hey there Adam of Top Mysteries, great video you did here I loved it! What a very cool first name you got there as well! 😁 Wow, I find that one about Dennis Johnson to be particularly weird and crazy seeing as how his little sister literally went missing for a short amount of time, and the family were in panic mode while searching for her but then found the girl and all was happy again, but then everything just came crumbling down into chaos once more because Dennis went missing. I personally find that to be very superstitious, it is a national park after all and we know the amount of bizarre, unexplainable occurrences that have happened in them, like deaths, disappearances etc. I know it might sound silly but it's almost like the wilderness was just playing games with Dennis' family before the real deal actually happened. I have found through extensive research that even if someone has climbed & hiked numerous trails & mountains, they are not the same. You have to factor in weather conditions, terrain, wildlife, etc. to have a successful & safe excursion. Letting someone know exactly where you are going & not deviating from that plan is key, along with being prepared for sudden weather changes, or having a weapon for protection. Sometimes I think the person ran across something or someone they shouldn't have, kinda like the movie Deliverance & was disposed of so their secret could not be told. My heart, as always, goes out to the missing & their families, as my sister is an avid hiker & I constantly worry about her. Now if there were wild animals and terrain hazards yea, but as we all know the national parks are very urbanized and there are safety rails and sidewalks everywhere, and all wildlife are kept safely in cages. Can't figure these mysteries out. Definitely something fishy going on when .0001% of people visiting national parks, just randomly vanish in such optimal human conditions. This is just baffling.

A friend and I once ended up wading through a lot of rugged terrain, after simply mistakenly walking down a from a mountain by a different route than the one by which we ascended. Was out on a solo hike and lost my trail (not in a serious way) in the same way last weekend. Those mistakes might happen more frequently than one would assume.

In grade school we went to the Pocono campground. They sent us off in pairs of 2 to follow these colored mountain trails. Somehow our trail markers disappeared, and my friend became more panicked than me because it was getting dark. I always had a good sense of direction. I managed to find our way back to the lodge. I don't know why I didn't tell them the ribbons went missing. I think I was 8 or 9 years old. I guess I was elated not to be lost.

Why would the father send his 8 year son back into the woods to look for one of his missing child? If one child came up missing wouldn't you keep all your other children with you? I wonder if the father was angry with the son for losing his sister and struck him, thereby killing him?

Gilman had quite the resume. But it goes to show that anyone can "disappear" at any time even if they refuse to believe that can happen to them. Still I don't believe this to be a disappearance case. I think he either wanted to start over somewhere else or he was recruited for some super secret assignment which would require him to detach himself from his current life. A year ago a man was found deceased in NY turns out he had gone missing 10 years prior in CT. He left his family and assumed a new identity. He died of natural causes.

Another great video. Thank you for the time you put in to these cases. Much appreciated. The case concerning the eight-year-old boy who went missing after going to look for his sister. I don’t think they are going to win any parental awards, to put it lightly.
