In this video i am going to walk from east nanjing road to The bund shanghai, and see the massive crowd in the longest street in the world, which is also known as fifth avenue or oxford street of london, it's almost 6km long, it has many big brands for shopping and also many hotels and restaurants for people to eat.
it is one of the visited place in shanghai, it's for sure one of the best things to do in shanghai. everyday people within country and out of country visit this place.
and roughly guess that everyday one million people visit this place.
it is one of the best things to do in shanghai and see the china's infrastructure from future.

You are so brave, going to the Bund when there are the most people People in green uniforms are armed police, not the military. The main duties of the armed police are to carry out anti-terrorism and maintain order within the territory. Don't worry about these people. In the Chinese people's consciousness, they feel safe when they see them. There will be a large number of armed police on Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street and the Bund to maintain order during important holidays. Where you were going up the steps in the video, a serious stampede occurred during the New Year's Eve event at around 23:35 on December 31, 2014, killing 36 people and injuring 49 people (13 seriously). So since then, a large number of police forces have been deployed here to maintain order every New Year's Eve event.

Peace Hotel is one of the oldest hotel in Shanghai, and it used to be the highest class hotel. it s the background of many movies, tv serials and novels about the stories happened in old Shanghai.

This film was taken in the New Year Eve and Shanghai had a lot of tourists from all over China at that moment . There were fireworks show in the Bund and police / armies were there to control the very heavy traffic . They made such arrangement based on past experience . Overall , Shanghai is safe & very well organized . Tesla made 53% of their EV cars in their Shanghai factory in 2023 .

Oxford street in London is a dump! Full with American candy shops. Good high end shops are gone a long while. You get mugged or robbed in Oxford Street.

It good to have police to guide the crowded people as several years ago a sudden stampede erupted ( not terrorist ) and causing some injuries. Foreigner do not like to see Chinese police as they they do not grew up there.

We were on East Nanjing road on 31th Dec 2023, on new year's eve. Thankfully the police controlled thousands of people passing by. And there were not full of peoples every night, we were a week holiday in Shanghai and stayed in hotel on west Nanjing road. We are from Indonesia

the building besides that clock-tower building in Bund used to be HSBC Shanghai branch, which is where the name come from: HongKong-Shanghai Bank Corp. As for why people are taking pics on Pacific Hotel, is due to a famous TV show on air recently, called Blossoms Shanghai/繁花. Its where the main character lives and stories are here.

I've been there many times years ago. But still thank you for taking me there again. Btw, the building "Peace Hotel" was very much famous in China's near history. Many important historical events ( in the last 150 years) were linked to this hotel.

I went to 5th Avenue in New York and Oxford Street. Well, they suck. How can you compare. Please don't compare Shanghai with these filthy places. I went to Shanghai and they are worlds apart. Oxford Street and 5th Avenue are just Western hype. Simply no comparison. They suck! Really!
