+1 MMR: Pre-Casting Instant Disables | 7.27d

Cast your instant disables on initiators that look like they are going to blink in. You'll look like a hacker and get reported by the enemy team, maybe your own team too!
This will be a video series of assorted tips and tricks and what have yous for Dota 2. These aren’t meant to completely cover any given topic. It won’t always explain why or when to do something. They won’t always be cohesive either. It’s just meant to show you that you can do something. Dota 2 is complex. Sometimes people ask why a certain decision was made, but it’s so hard to explain, there’s so many connected events that lead to that split-second decision. These are those singular events.
I'm not saying you need to do these things to be gain MMR, nor am I saying that all high skilled players will do these things. I'm just saying that you should please watch my videos and hopefully they won't be the worst thing you've ever seen.

I think I know why it sometimes doesn't work - turn rate. If they blink directly towards you you'll get the euls off, if they blink at a little bit of an angle you have to turn a little bit before you can cast the euls, which is enough time for a shift cue echo to go off.

Yeah my guess was turn rate. Everything else in the equation is instant...except also the time difference between the ES ordering a blink and the ES ordering a shift queue Echo Slam when the blink is instant. So in a weird combination of mechanics: the ES wants to be turning or initially out of blink range (to give him time to order the shift queue before the blink actually happens) and the Widow wants to be looking at exactly the spot she thinks that ES will blink to (to make her instant cast...instant). I reckon this favours the Earthshaker when both players know what's up, but it's still a close call.

@@ProfDCoy willow is forced to face towards ES while precasting, so ES can get it off consistently as long as he blink echos to the side/back of willow

you don't have to be perfectly aligned, there is 11.5 degrees of leeway, either side, so 23° total. In a cone in front of you so the further away you are the larger the area you cover (while still in range)

Pretty neat trick, ty. This +1 MMR thing could be a mini series of useful small stuff you probably use once a 1000 game, if you can think of any others like this. :D

It actually used to be a mini-series, this is the first new video for it in a long time! It's in the playlists if you want to see, but unfortunately many of them are now updated. I think a couple that still hold up would be disassembling Arcane boots and Lotus Orb. Moving courier to the edge of the fountain. Portrait targeting....that's probably it. I'll try to restart this series with random tips as I think of them!

I saw this on Singsings channel, an enemy Lion keep spamming the hex against them. He kept running back and fort when they came for Highground seige and singsing was saying the guy was attempting an insta hex

This is definitely a tool for predicting more than it is for constant back and forth trying to pull off just in case. I use this on storm spirit with orchid. Obv I am the one initiating but you can use items wile in ball lightning and getting an orchid or a sheep stick as soon as you are in range is super op on storm. I use orchid on no dispell targets and sheep on people with dispell/bkb. I usually force everybody to build at least one item that allows them to dispell my silence and for some heroes that's just a waste of a slot. And then I just counter their dispel with sheep stick and they wasted both money and a slot. Really cool way to play storm nowadays. Tho I miss old blood stone with infinite mana Regen, I would even give up the faster respawn time just gib me my 140 late game mana Regen.

Ive been wondering how do you set up your keys? do you use auto or quick cast at all? Maybe another topic for your videos is your settings.

I use quick cast for everything besides TP. I almost never use auto-cast, though if I do want it, I manually activate it and then de-activate it in game. Settings tend to be personal preference, though I do think there are a couple optimizations to think about. It seems really tryhard though which is why I haven't really gone into it before. I can make a video though sometime

@@ZQuixotix I find that having active item abilities on regular cast makes it easier to use for self targeting using double click method. however I want my dagger on quick cast so I am unable to take advantage of the quick escape using the double click method. Btw, do you have a twitch channel? Im wondering how can we watch more of your games.

If you use quickcast (actually I think it works even if you don't use quickcast), there is an option to make it so that if you use Alt+"Hotkey" then it will self-cast. I believe it's under Hotkeys>Advanced Hotkeys>Hotkey Options>Smart Double Tap. You may also need to have the Double Tap Self Cast option on, but sounds like you have that already. That's what I use, so for example, Alt+D is self-cast Force Staff. Though be careful for self casting Dagger. It will be a fast way to cast it back to your base, but it will default the shorter range. It might be better in some cases to manually cast it for the longer cast range. I don't like using Alt, so I actually have Space Bar bound to be my Alt Modifier. Which I like, but it's whatever you are comfortable with. Hopefully you'll be able to catch some! I try to upload some of the games to KZbin, but Twitch also archives the streams for a couple of weeks if you want to watch those

What about if storm jumps in the middle of your team and you don't see him to be able to click. Beside spaming, can you like spam his portrait?

Can't click enemy portraits (it would be too broken against illusion heroes). If you don't get vision of him ahead of time, then you just gotta be fast to click him afterwards haha

@@ZQuixotix true. Good point. I was wondering this because I sometimes go with my cursor on the edge and when I use something like skewer, it goes in a weird direction, because the cursor is over an enemy portrait when I press the skill. Either this or I'm a pepeg. :))
