I was on a strict carnivore diet for 1.5 years. I experienced tons of health benefits from that way of eating, but weight loss was unfortunately not one of them.
For that reason, I've recently changed my diet just a bit in an attempt to achieve my preferred physique.
Here are some details about EXACTLY how the first month went.

After over 16 months on carnivore I got sick of slowly gaining fat so I decided to go in a small calorie deficit and up my daily walking. I am down another 15 pounds. I basically STOPPED eating high fat and eating until stuffed. I’m definitely NOT eating low fat or even low calories but for me I was certainly eating too much for my body. All I know is calories do matter for me, even with eating carnivore. Also I will add that I gave up dairy as well.

You are 100% right.... calories matter for EVERYONE.Carnivore must be the right way to eat for humans...but eating so much fat and calories you'll gain weight. And we don't want that. Being overweight causes pain and many sickness

I noticed that about myself also. Also I would eat about a pound of ground beef for dinner but I noticed after about a half a pound that I was comfortably full not stuffed. And I decided to start cutting down on my portion sizes and when I did that I noticed that the scale started to move. And that's when I decided that perhaps cico does apply to me. And dairy was the first thing I gave up. I realize that dairy fat and me did not mix

Here's one tip that might help you stay away from unnecessary sugar and carbs: cancer cells thrive on sugar/carbs!! My understanding is we all have "dormant" cancer cells in our body. I'm bound and determined to starve them! Best of luck and I will continue to follow your journey as I am on the same journey. Found your channel and subscribed after seeing your interview with Dr. Berry😎🙏

As a recovering alcoholic/addict, former chain smoker and serious sugar addict, my experience has been that abstinence is the only way for me to be successful. I had to surrender to the demons, and now, after 104 days as a carnivore, I know that I can’t go back to sugar (carbs). I’m an utter failure at moderation. I’ve overcome physical cravings but am still working on the psychological cravings. They’re getting better but I maintain vigilance to avoid temptations. You are NOT broken. You have what so many have: Addiction; it’s an insidious condition. We have to accept that to be healthy, we must have no reservations about our inability to control carbs. Cease fighting it, surrender! Wishing you success! Keep the faith.

Same here thank you! I’m also in the same boat and have been carnivore for 2 years. I recently had a baby. And the weight will just not come off. And it sends me down a path of eating the wrong things. I’ll be very strict carnivore for months and not loose an ounce. It’s like what is wrong here that I can not loose weight! So frustrating. I can feel every word you say because I’ve said them or thought them to myself.

I don’t love that you struggle, but I so love and respect your transparency. It’s nice to know I’m not alone on this oh carnivore cured all my disordered thinking around food and I’ve been years without a craving or cheat. I admire those people as well, but knowing I’m not abnormal with temptations and “failures” is reassuring. Thank you. Rooting for you and inspired by your journey. ❤️ 🙏🏻

I’ve never related more to another carnivore. I have watched so many videos of other people eating until they’re full and still being so successful and gaining all of these wonderful benefits. I thought I was broken! I’ve struggled with binge eating for so long and I appreciate your openness here. I make my kids similar peanut butter balls and they have been my downfall MANY times and start a binge that can last a week or more. Your journey is really encouraging to me, so thank you☺️❤️

To me... there's no mystery...I gained weight because I was having a ton of calories on the carnivore, and yes, calories matter...I cut the calories to 1400 and added some healthy carb and I've lost 21 pounds in one month. So so simple... being overweight is a huge risk for cancer, specially in women. The weight has to go...no matter how! Thank you for your videos!!!👏👏👏

I had been strict carnivore for 4 months last year but started to feel more tired, had poor sleep, and started gaining weight. This led me to come back to my standard carb-laden diet…which, not surprisingly, led me to binge and put more body fat. So I decided to give carnivore a try again but this time the best method to do it. Did my research and saw this 80-20 high fat carnivore approach. It’s basically eating 200g of fat and less than 100g of protein. Also important to not undereat and allow calorie surplus. Usually in this diet you feel so satiated that you’re eating in a caloric deficit so effortlessly but that’s not essentially a good thing because you’re slowing down your metabolism. This made so much sense because my approach last year was eating too much protein (>200g a day) and much less fat and I was fasting and on a caloric deficit everyday. That didn’t work for me and my body hated me for it. I’m only 14 days in and lost 14 lbs. Too early to conclude anything but so far so good. Been lifting weights way more efficiently even with 90-100g of protein a day.

Excellent video... I used to have horrible binge triggering hormonal cravings. I'm also frustrated by some in the carnivore community that say, "just eat to satiety." Well that clearly doesn't work for everyone. You are beautiful and certainly carry your weight very well - zaftig in all of its positive connotations.

I can so relate to you. I ve been eating a carnivore diet for nearly a year in the same household as my spouse and kids who eat the sad diet… it’s not easy. In the past few months I’ve been experimenting with adding fermented vegetables 30 minutes before a meal and I’ve noticed that to increase my feeling of satiety. Also I’ve found that shame can cause a dopamine rush… I really appreciate your transparency. Thank you

Oh, wow. Interesting about the relationship between shame and dopamine. We humans are complicated beings because of our crazy emotions around food. Especially if you are prone to addiction. Same with binge-purge addiction and dopamine. The anticipation of relief is what kicks in the dopamine it seems.

Oh Jen. I feel ya! I binged this week too. I’m pretty frustrated. In 2021 i was at my lowest and felt great at 180. And then I started gaining and I hadn’t changed anything. So then we (hubby too gained with no explanation) tweaked things and changed up some things. Nope. I’ve gained 35 pounds and now I’m binging again. I’m nearly where I was, weight wise, back to my weight of pre carnivore. I’ve had 2 days of eating really well. So, hopefully I’m in a better place. I also LOVE a LOT of food! A pound of steak or two…is not a problem. I’m also now doing raw milk and yogurt from my local dairy.

So grateful to have found your channel.🌹 Just purchased Brain over Binge. I have always eaten my emotions and the only time I’ve been successful at eating healthfully was when I was encouraging others. It seems I will never do it for myself. I will binge to comfort myself - but it’s not comforting. Keto got the monkey off my back specifically when I was really doing more of a carnivorous version. But a life situation I don’t want to mention here has put my stress level on overdrive for at least a year and a half - 😢 I’ve gained 25 pounds eating my emotions. I know carnivore works and I’m praying this book helps too 👍 I’m in remission after almost 13 years of a chronic illness. I’ve been given a gift and I don’t want to squander it 🙏🕊️

I remember looking in the mirror and for the first time saying " you look pretty". Since then I have regained about 30 lbs back. I don't like the way my face looks, nor the weight gain that has come back on my body looks. I know what I have to do and yet, like you I will eat what I shouldn't. I am determined to take it off and you gave me some ideas which I'm going to implement. Thank you so much for your channel. I'm delighted to meet you. I'll be with you every step of the way🤗. I understand you and the struggle. I want to succeed as much as you do. I myself am struggling so bad, I move my scale around to see if I get a better number, the hell is wrong with me?! I literally do the oddest things. I think it boils down to not having a little bit of what’s bad for me because I go wild and go full on yolo. Loved that you were brutally honest with yourself and us because we need this honesty to relate to. How to conquer the overeating or the temptations? I’m curious how you will succeed because you will. But just know that I personally think you don’t see yourself and how beautiful you are. Bless your heart! We all can relate to your struggles. At 67 I decided to ask my Dr. for help to lose weight. My story is very long so I’m leaving out a lot. I went on topimax to kill my appetite and I weighed in with her once a month. This was last year and went from 190 to 145 by spring. Went off the medication and continued to weigh in monthly. I didn’t lose or gain weight, I’m a binger too, then I saw you and the rest of the carnivore community. So I stared carnivore and have lost 5 lbs. I credit some of my success with the accountability I’m putting on n myself by seeing my Doc monthly. She is the most amazing person and Doc. So sweetheart I so much compassion for you , you are drop dead gorgeous by the way, maybe seeing a Doc to get some help would be helpful. The drug I took makes you sleep btw. Good luck hon! Vickie 🥰

Not having these amazing weight loss results that everyone else seems to have. No clue what I’m supposed to eat. lol. Thanks for sharing your story. And it’s not superficial to want to look your best. You should look up esteem dynamics 😊 there is a whole evolutionary reason for why women are concerned with weight. It directly relates to our potential reproductive success in society. Not ideal … but it’s how we are wired. Keep on keeping on ❤

Hi Jen, former bulimic here. I know the struggle of bingeing for sure. Carnivore has cured me of that. I have been carnivore since August of 2022. I drink wine a few times a month, and always gain 3-5 pounds when I do - so that is my downfall. Junk food is no longer a temptation for me, simply because I know it's not just "empty calories", it's POISON. Here's a suggestion for you, maybe try strict carnivore, but with decaf coffee (unless that's what you already do). I am SUPER sensitive to caffeine now that I am carnivore. I drink a cup of tea in the morning, but if I have any iced tea during the day, I CANNOT fall asleep at night. I used to be able to drink iced tea all day, with no sleep issues. I wonder if you were sleeping really well, and did strict carnivore, you would be satisfied and lose weight? Sleep deprivation does lead to bingeing (in my experience). Thanks for your honesty in this video! You're doing GREAT, AND you have a guy who loves you "just as you are!" (Bridget Jones;)

I have struggled with losing weight most of my life, and now I think I am doing it the right way, but I too, seem to struggle with that blasted scale! No matter what I do or how strict I am, how much I work out, it just creeps down. Also, if I mess up, boy does the weight come back. Thank you so much for making me feel like I’m not alone. Jen i so relate to “my body doesn’t know when it’s full” I’ve been at a carnivore life for almost 10 months and i feel like this has been the biggest challenge. After a lifetime of diet culture it doesn’t surprise me that my mind overrides my satiety signals. When i feel like i want to keep eating i try waiting 10 minutes and keep checking in with my body if i am still hungry I’ll try starting adding a small amount. I feel like im still learning and a giving myself grace in this learning process. You are so beautiful and you are learning what is best for your life! Hang in there! I think you are a volume eater! Not sure why i fell off in October but it was a slippery slope to full on std american diet. With no restrictions. Now here it is May 2024 and i am back on BBBE and finding it hard to be strict again. I want to be healthy and also kick off the 110 extra pounds i have. Hi girl, thank you so much for being truly you! I have something to suggest. If i were you, i would go back to keto - I would ditch all dairy, coffee, started to eat 4-5 small fatty meals throughout a day, as you clearly have volume addiction and this will help you to combat that. I would definitely try to get into ketosis. With time (6 months) i would gradually transfer to 2 - 3 meals a day. No gum , no sweet taste, nothing came from package. I can guarantee your weight will melt in a matter of weeks if you follow. For the reference - I have been on this space for 6 years now, 46 y.o. hight 174 cm, weight 57 kg. I follow what I suggested to the letter. Good luck and keep us updated! xx

I so feel you! Is like I hear my self talking about my experience! After carnivore for 5 months I went back to Ketovore. I'm 49 and obviously after age hormonal changes my period's symptoms increased from 3 days to 10! which leads to binge eating. The only think that seems to work for me is to do a 3-days fast (but in the period of the first 2 weeks of my cycle). Besides, at the end of the month, the overall calories deficit counts. I know is difficult when you think "I will not eat for 3 days?!?!?". If you see it as a challenge and how amazing you feel after the first 36 hours you just want to keep going. I'm selfish here, but I'm happy that I 'm not the only one in the carnivore community that falls of the wagon and everything is not a paradise. Thank you so much for these videos and don't give up. Keep experimenting till you find your own paradise path!

Thank you for this video. I loved how open and honest you were with your struggles, the struggles many of us share. I know along my journey I heard the phrase "It's not what you're eating, it's what's eating you," and that was very helpful to me as I started asking questions about why I was eating the way I was. I remember thinking (back when we use to go to all-you-can-eat buffet places), "why do I feel bad if I eat the hot fudge sundae, but I feel deprived if I don't?", "Why can't I take it or leave it?" The questions are good, and if you keep questioning and thinking about the answers for yourself, it will lead to the root of it all. I know it did for me. I haven't ahd a hot fudge sundae (nor the desire for one) in many years. I'm Ketovore for several years now.

Are you tracking what you're eating? I found that that helps me see patterns and also by removing certain foods that I'm looking at on my app I'm figuring out what triggers me and what doesn't and what's helping me to lose weight and what's not. The first thing I did was take the dairy out all except the butter. That helped with a lot of the bloat and inflammation I no longer look like I'm pregnant. Next is portion sizes I was eating until I was full like everybody tells you to do but after a month or two of doing it that's when you start to notice if you pay attention to your body that perhaps you're not as hungry as you thought you were and so I started cutting down on my portion sizes and found that I'm just as full with a half a pound of ground beef as I am with a full pound in fact a full pound Made Me stuffed

For me… I did the following, to finally lose the weight that had been driving me nuts: (1) I did strict Carnivore, tending towards OMAD as much as I could, for about 6 weeks. ZERO carbs during that time, no cheats at all. (2) Then I did a 40-day water fast; which was surprisingly easy!! Easy after day 3, easy until day 37… and I have not regained any of the 35 lbs I lost on that fast! Carnivore mostly after..!!

I didn't' weigh myself, but decided to go with how my pants were fitting...and I haven't even been able to go down a single size. And, I'm still having all the issues (and not feeling they've gotten even marginally better) I wrote down that I hoped carnivore would help. SO frustrated...and really feeling that maybe my body just won't get better, no matter how long I stick with this.

I think that you are dealing with food intolerances. I have the same issues and you have to find the foods and the amounts of the foods that are right for your body. The foods that aren’t right can make you feel super hungry after your body gets thrown off. When this happens to me I just eat more but sticking to safe foods. You have to tell yourself that you can never eat the bad foods like candy and stuff, look at it like poison and terrible. If you have to volume eat you have to stick to the clean stuff. I totally understand❤

Is fatigue linked to your binge eating behavior? I’m a single mom of three, Keto/Carnivore really helps my energy levels stay even during the day (minus the week before my cycle). For whatever reason I tank that week and my brain wants all the foods. If I recognize my cycle and fatigue, then I can plan fatigue fighting strategies that don’t include “binge gateway foods”. I will try fifteen minute power naps next to my kids, keto snaps (dark chocolate), and extra water with unflavored electrolytes (the stevia in LMNT triggers my sweet tooth brain). I stopped drinking coffee. It just masked the symptoms and set me up for a crash. Also (for me) coffee made me anxious and impulsive with my food at night time. Hope that helps.

I do 2mad. A 250 gr NY strip steak and 3 eggs with 15 gr (1 Tbsp) of butter at lunch and 5 eggs with 30 gr of butter at dinner. I feel super satiated and at around 1500. If I go over that, I don't lose weight. I understand the bingeing so well. That's why I stopped Keto. The treats, I couldn't stop. I lost a lot on Keto but the mindset and triggers remained. Carnivore changed my life in this sense. Some days, once a Week, I aim for 2000 cal to keep the body not used to a deficit. So I'll do ground beef (I avoid it as it's so calorie dense) and more eggs. I hope this info helps somehow. I'm in it for the long haul. God bless!

"Why don't you just get used to eating less?"... Is like telling someone why don't you just eat less and move more. If you are not coming from any type restriction and your body is fully nourished of course that's easy to say you can eat less. You're not hungry. You've been in abundance not deprivation. Why do you think those in the body building realm binge after a show? It's not that simple. Binging comes after restriction. Be that types of food, calories, etc. It may not be right away but eventually it happens. The body is smart and it's survival drive is powerful.

I have so many thoughts. - Dairy is hyper palatable. It’s my instant trigger to binge. It turns on that switch for me. Plus 300 calories of dairy don’t satisfy like 300 of meat. (Not to say that’s what you’re having but to illustrate). -- Also, think about this… let’s say you eat 1700 calories but you exercised 900. That’s only a net of about 600 calories for the day. It seems to reason you would be hungry. I don’t think your body would want to release the fat because it’s not getting enough nutrients and calories for how much activity you’re doing. What if you eat 1200+ calories per day AFTER exercise calories have been accounted for? If you eat 1000 calories and you exercise 1000 calories, that leaves nothing for your body to function on. That MAY also be a reason you’re still hungry. Tracking will help you eat more. And you don’t have to eat it the same day. Whatever you tracked today in expenditure is what you’ll eat tomorrow. I appreciate your raw honesty. Food chatter is difficult.

The power oatmeal balls would be the death of me, and after a year of pure carnivore I also am having trouble moderating the foods I add back in..which is mostly spinach and broccoli and a few nuts (nuts are a trigger food for me). I have NO appistat and many people also tell me to "just eat less"...no it is not a one size fits all solution and it doesn't work that way for me either.I am curious about the skin condition, which I also suffer from, and arthritis, which is almost gone on carnivore and I am fearful it will come back if I add in plants.

There is one very peculiar thing that I noticed, maybe that will help. I get A LOT more satisfied when I eat RARE meat rather than eating something that was cooked well done (like crispy ground beef or jerky). I can eat about 250g of steak and be full for half the day, but I just can't get enough of well-cooked meat and get hungry very quickly after such meals. I am already down to beef, butter and seasonings/teas only and that helps too, since I can't control myself with eggs, chicken and pork. I will probably be OK if eating them at a restaurant or someone else's place, but I had to admit that the palatability of those foods is through the roof and my brain will send the signals to eat until I want to throw up. So, try eating your beef rare!
