Looks promising. I'm 52 years old and I believe I can still achieve the MuscleUp. I'll try it out as it get's a bit warmer here in Germany. Thank you very much.

Best tutorial ever, some people just make state you must have grip with palm not use finger and also say you will not be able if you use your finger. But for me, I prefer use my finger also like Mike. And when we go up, we need use muscle between the elbow, not full on back. This's was right thinking about muscle up. Thanks a lot Mike 🙏

Thanks. That "relaxation in movements" shows up more often the more I age. The least amount of tension necessary to do the task... seems like the goal of movement mastery of any kind. 🎉

Relaxing legs and core body makes my legs an swing a lot. Swinging legs are what usually throw me down from the bar. By the way, I have spastic diplegia CP so this is way harder than normal people. My latest progression is purple band and red band together.

Very patiently explained in detail.. would you have advice on building strength progressively without bands and working towards a 1st muscle up
@MikeZouth
@MikeZouth 4 ай бұрын
Without bands I would recommend working on your weighted pull-ups, clapping pull-ups, negative muscle-ups. Hope that helps!

Hi Mike. I’m a 65 (soon to be 66)yr old man. I’ve been following your advice with the bands for a little while now. Late last year I achieved unbanded 3 muscle-ups but with excessive swing and legs rather untidy. Although very pleased (delighted given my age), I wasn’t satisfied. I then came across your videos and method of starting with thicker bands and training the reps. My insertion point was the purple band, which I made quick progress with. I then progressed to combining the black with the red band. I’m now at the black band stage and doing well. My question is this: until now, I’ve been aiming for 10 reps for 5 sets. I achieved this with the black and red, but thus far, the best I’ve managed with the black only, is 7 reps. Should I just concentrate on achieving 5 reps for each set, as you recommended, or is there any virtue in trying for higher reps, say 10? It’s very tempting to proceed to the red band only, but I convinced myself it would be better if I could accomplish more reps than 5 in each set. At my age, I feel it wouldn’t be a good idea to try to move too quickly through each band and instead concentrate on staying where I am and increasing reps. What would you suggest? Do you think it’s a wasted effort going for too many reps? Do I need to now progress to the red band? The red is the thinnest band I have and offers very little support. By the way, I have intentionally avoided doing any unbanded muscle ups these last few months in order to clean up my form and gain strength. Thank you in anticipation! 😊

Thanks for your question. 10 reps on each band is a lot! I would recommend 5, otherwise it will be a long journey 😅.

Yes, I agree. I was hoping you’d say something like that. Red band only from today then. Thanks for the advice!

When training at an outdoors gym recently, I saw what looked to me like an old man walk up to a bar, do a strict explosive muscle up, then a full planche on top of the bar. Then he just left. What a chad.

I i got good at muscle ups when I was training regularly but since I got a job then Ive only been training all out mainly in the weekend and realised that I havent got the explosiveness to do pull ups especially when Ive done a few reps of pull ups. Do you have any suggestions.
@MikeZouth

I would say follow the instructions in the video + do weighted pull-ups.

Great video!! Do you think the little orange band is too small to be worth while? The jump from red to bodyweight seems a bit extreme to me. Thank you!!
@MikeZouth
@MikeZouth 4 ай бұрын
Of you can do 5 reps for 5 sets with the red band you have 1-2 bodyweight muscle-ups for sure. But why not use the orange as well, not a bad idea 😊👊🏼

Thank you for the encouragement. I am working on ring muscle ups and have had difficulty shifting to bodyweight only. Nailed 2 yesterday, for a total of 3 now lifetime...lol. Yesterday I was able to link three orange band assisted muscle ups twice. For me, it seems to be a good part of the progression. Perhaps I will feel differently when I tackle bar muscle ups...?

This is impressive and a good job in explaining. Technically, this is not a true muscle up, though. It's nit-picking, I know, but in a clean muscle up, aka, using only your muscles to go up, you could stop at any time in the movement. Your technique requires momentum, so it's a mostly-muscle up. Much cleaner than many others I've seen. Again, not wanting to diminish your impressive feat of strength and technique. I am just nitpicking. You might be interested in these, at your level, you should be able to achieve them in no time- kzbin.info/www/bejne/h3jCiGt9oLmraqc kzbin.info/www/bejne/inmlZmSkpdysp8k Much love, and thank you for your efforts to spread fitness to the masses!!!
