My favorite game with nightvision was Halo ODST. I always loved how it just highlighted things so you still had your natural NV of your dilated eyes. The first game that comes to mind when you mention night vision is, of course, Splinter Cell. Most other games I can think of like MW2019 and Ghost Recon Wildlands use it as an optional supplemental feature, but not as a core mechanic. Really selling me on this game. I started a little over a month ago and I just recently gotten geared enough to actually do stuff without immediately dying. I did a few of the main missions and explored up to pripryat, then headed back to my base at the farmstead to sleep. When I woke up it was a lot more quiet than usual. I went out side to look for the usual stalkers around the campfire, but I was met with 10+ monolith expert-legendary exo-soldiers outside the door stacked tactically against the wall. All of the other stalkers were dead or attempting to fight back. One of the most ass clenching firefights ensured. It was fucking insane, top 15 gaming experiences of my life. If I could compare the world play to anything it would have to be Fallout NV, but even then it does some things better than even FNV. If you haven’t already, I really recommend the GAMMA mod. Delta Force: Black Hawk Down (2003) - night vision mission: Radio Aidid Aah, that brings back memories...first time ever seeing night vision in a game, my squad whispering, taking down one bad guy at a time and moving slowly towards the tower you need to blow up. The best part is when you destroy the generator inside their building and only you can see in the dark...fkin masterpiece

I like this kind of video, with this kind of stories and chatting, this reminds me of my airsoft experience as well) I've played big week long games with vehicles and night fights, where only a few of us had NVGs, and all were supposed to use trasser attachments - participating this was a strange mix of fear and glory, even if it was just a game.

For night vision the first game that comes to mind is Rainbow Six Vegas 2. Simply because of how often I played it with my older brother and the memories. Wasn't impressive night vision by any means as it was just a green circle put over your 3rd person camera. But it felt so cool to be "tactical" clearing terrorists with my brother, man I often tell my brother we have to get together and replay vegas 2, army of 2 and a few other games again. Those were such great times

DayZ is the game I think of for NVGs. Nothing beat chasing helicopter crashes looking for a set of NVGs especially when playing on a server with vanilla darkness. Getting NVGs instantly made you more confident in moving around after dark

The first game I remember with iconic night vision was splinter cell chaos theory. My dad, brother, and I would play the co op mode on the first xbox, and continued all the way up to blacklist. But chaos theory we would always go back to.

Honestly, STALKER is master of all FPS games. There is no peace, like walking around like that, you get like every feeling playing this game dude. THis game is for Oscar. I remember playing it when I was a kid. And I can still remember this game, awesome. And these graphics, lightnings were out of time. Just beautiful game.

Listening to these while playing is like having a pro stalker showing you the ropes and telling stories, very comfy vibes. Great vids man!

I'd have to say my favorite and first introduction to night vision was Splinter cell Blacklist. Super fun to just hide in a dark hall dangling off a pipe right above someone and no one knows you're there.

Chaos Theory was, I think, my first game with NVGs. I know it’s not the most realistic implementation, but it got the job done. I do, however, love how a lot of newer games are using a much more realistic implementation for immersion.

Tom Clancys Splinter Cell. Iconic night vision imo and first thing that comes to mind. Chaos theory for night time. They were all night missions I think.

I've played very little of the series but for some reason Splinter Cell's NV feels like *the* iconic form of night vision in video games to me, from the sound to the visuals to even the design of the headset and its three green glowing lenses.

Socom navy seals game on the ps2. My dad was in the Army and we lived on base at the time. My neighbor was a single drill sgt and probably one of the coolest dudes I ever met and looked up too. I use to hang out with him and looking back at it it was probably me thinking we were hanging out but more of me annoying and bothering him. But listen to this guys, early 2000’s, dude had EVERY awesome and cool gun you could even think of. He had suppressors back before they were cool. But not only that but this guy had EVERY SINGLE GAMING SYSTEM there was. So at this time I believe it was Nintendo 64, Game cube, Dreamcast, original Xbox, ps1 and ps2 and he was also the first person to introduce me to PC gaming. Also at this time only losers and nerds played video games so you gotta realize at this time not only did I catch hell from kids at school but even my own father teased me badly about being gamer nerd. So when this awesome bad ass Army bachelor guy moved in next door and had more guns and cooler guns then my dad, went to harder and better schools then my dad, out ranked my dad, and was also into video games just like me. I loved this guy. But on top of all that cool stuff he also had his ps2 hooked up to internet which at this time was SUPER DUPER rare and unheard of. I didn’t even know it was a thing. But he used it and a headset to play socom. And they played it hardcore. Loved watching him play. They were so good. This guy was so cool that he knew I was asking for a ps2 for my birthday and Christmas for so long that the damn ps3 was about to come out and I still couldn’t get my parents to buy it for me. Well one day he knocked on the door with this big box in his hands and gave his ps2, 4 controllers, like over 100 games. Some ps1 and ps2 games. Two light guns, like 10+ memory cards, the infrared remote control for the DVD player and occasionally when he went out to get a copy of some new game for the ps3 if they made it for the ps2 he bought it for me as well. This man treated me like his son and honestly better then my own father ever really did. Fast forward a couple years later. The first week of my summer vacation going into the 8th grade I hadn’t seen him in over a week. I saw a couple of middle aged women at his house that I’ve never seen before. I went and knocked on the door to see where my friend had been and who they were. She answered the door saying “hi there and you must be Dylan from next door. I’ve heard so much about you. You know you were James best friend right? I smiled for a brief second until I noticed she started crying. I found out this was his sister and she was gathering up all his things because a week prior he was killed in a freak car accident. I was absolutely so crushed. My summer was ruined. She gave me literally ALL of his games and gaming systems and his PC that he built as well as all his nerdy gaming stuff like all the Nintendo nick nacks and pre order stuff. 1000’s of dollars worth of stuff. He was a great man. Rip James. I’ll never forget what you did for me at a time in a young growing boys life where he needs a positive male role model and you were more then that.

The game that comes to my mind when i think of night vision and have vivid memories of is Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Vegas 2, the distinct noise it made when you just put them on and the typical green hue that came with it just brings back memories

Medal of Honor from 2010 is what I think of immediately when I think about a game I played a lot that has night vision. I played it a lot as a kid, even if I don't really understand the story at all, and I played the game several times over. It had several levels with NVGs and Thermals and I remember specifically it had interactions in one mission where the enemy sends up flares or something along those lines and it blinds you while you're using your NVGs. I doubt they're very realistic though.

For the games featuring night vision: The oldest one: Return to Castle Wolfenstein - Paderborn Village mission with the "Snooper Rifle" (suppressed and had a built-in NV scope) The favorite: Hard to choose but any Splinter Cell or Metro series games, probably.
