George Kempton was a master luthier and hand made this high quality instrument.

Interesting video! I’m sure I played that Kemptone uke at a GFS convention a good few years back. The only other one I know of also resides in Australia. Possibly the same new owner of this one?

Most of your info on the Kemptone is wrong. I played the use banjo in the film Bugsy Malone and it was my Abbott which I still own. The Kemptone was designed by George and my late father as I needed a uke suitable for a child to perform with. I still have the original instrument no 1 made. Regards Lee Mannering

Hey Martin nice bit of history with the uke. You have the ultimate banjo uke with the wendell hall tho. Check out mine on my channel I also have a wendell hall and luckily a 1929 ludwig, with the pyralin peghead, pretty rare. They are the the ultimate sounding banjo uke imo unsurpassed. Be good to get to one of your gigs.
