It's interesting how differently they deal with key changes. The 'song' structure is: 1. E minor/E phrygian bass part (silence for guitar solo) 2. F# minor blues pentatonic part (silence for guitar solo) 3. A-flat diminished seventh arpeggio, B-flat diminished seventh arpeggio, B major chord (with short silences in between) and E minor blues pentatonic ending lick. There's a challenge for guitar players to connect parts 1, 2 and 3. To create cohesive piece guitar part gotta somehow arrive from E minor key to F# minor. And then from F# minor to A-flat diminished seventh chord. So I got curious to see how every musician approached those key changes. For example, first dude (Ljfulks) just kinda reacts to bass guitar without thinking of key changes. Bass plays in Em, then guitar responds with E minor pentatonic lick which ends on root note (E) on strong beat without regard to F# minor bass part which begins in this moment. Same thing with his second solo: pure F# minor pentatonic ending on F# note. He's aware what goes before his solo but ignores what goes after. Gabriel Borza: kinda connects parts 1 and 2 by ending first solo with bend going from E to F#. Then he goes wild playing A7 arpeggios and then going to B minor pentatonic lick ending on B, which connects to A-flat diminished seventh smoothly. Nice. Jungle man connects 1 and 2 by plaing mainly E minor stuff but ending it with bold F# note, which sounds weird in E minor context but then bass starts playing in F# minor key and it all starts making new sense. Then he precedes A-flat diminished seventh just by playing atonal chromatic craziness. Well, why not, that works too. Davidmargalitad responds to Em part by D minor sounding lick ending it with A note. Weird, but at least that A makes sense in F# minor. Then he responds to F# minor part with... another D minor lick. Okay, that's definitely weird ) I kinda understand where first Dm lick came from: he took E, D and F from beginning of bass part and proceeded from that. But the second solo seems to be in Dm just because first one was in Dm (and because his guitar is tuned D standard). Sotomusic responds to Em part by starting with Em pentatonic, then outlining A major arpeggio (which is connected to F# minor) but then he ends with C-E-G-A-B phrase which theoretically is wrong way to precede F# minor pentatonic, but it works somehow. Then he plays strictly F# pentatonic but ends it with B note which connects to A-flat diminished seventh chord. Mathiaslunde starts with Em pentatonic but right before first key change he goes to F# minor pentatonic and ends phrase with F# note. Then he precedes A-flat diminished seventh arpeggio by ending second solo on A-flat. Smooth. Adamwardguitar does a lot of things in first solo (E phrygian dominant, Emajadd9 arpeggio, E mixolydian stuff) and ends it with G to Aflat bend. Whaat? Second solo is more traditional: he starts with F# minor pentatonic and then precedes bass A-flat diminished seventh arpeggio with his A-flat diminished seventh arpeggio.

Nice video, but the cuts had this insane static almost everytime. Started wondering if my speakers had gone night-night

Yeah, I agree. Perfect technique - pleasant to look at and admire, but to hear it - not so much

I don’t really know how to play but I totally agree. The first guy did the best in terms of listening to Charles’s music in my opinion

73.50 guy was my favorite, he just had the most tastefull licks. 135.50 was a close second, and the first guy at 7.50 bucks was very nice too and kicked some butt.

I hear a little Tenacious D at the beginning and the third bit sounds a lot like Toki and Skwisgaar's duel in The Doomstar Requiem.

I'm subscribed and I love watching these vids purely for the music and for the virtuosity of Charles. But the more I listen to tap style, the more im convinced that I just dont love it compared to the slap method. I just think bass is so enriched with percussive elements and tapping takes away from that, especially when soloing. Im no musician but thats just my humble opinion.
