@@JeromeRufin Haha. I think you definitely want to remember "Get ahead, turn it over." When you start hitting 300 yard drives, you'll see why.

@@JeromeRufin don't know what seasoned means - but PGA lifemember - retired - this guy is great enjoy everything - and savor your time with him - I could not think of a better track or person to follow - you are doing this in a way that should bring you a lot of enjoyment . And I see your ambition is to become scratch - what happens if you don't ? If you become a 2 hndcp and really enjoy golf will that be a bad thing ? That sounds pretty foolish to me

I have been playing for 20 years and 11 handicap. This is a brilliant piece of coaching. Just been to my club to put the 'five words' into practice. Works wonders. Hats off to Mark Wydra and thanks for posting.

I feel like Mike is a wealth of knowledge, but there is this underlying element to him. He seems to be genuinely invested in YOUR improvement. Maybe he appreciates what you're chasing with Scratch to Scratch - but it seems like he is sharing in your small successes as you achieve them. A lot of comments say he is overloading you with info, but I think he breaking larger concepts down into practical, digestible information. The way he comes around behind you and helps you feel what your motion should be doing is so reminiscent of Chubbs in Happy Gilmore "Its all in the hips...its all in the hips." 😂

I love how he mentioned instead of focusing on the perfect hit. Focus on not hitting the water on the left by getting ahead OR not going OB on the right by turning it over. Epic!

My new favorite UTube golf video. I’m a decent golfer and have known for years I wasn’t working my wrists/forearms correctly since my 7 iron is 145. I tried to fix that a few years ago and had such a hard time with direction first but then distance was a huge guess too as when I would pure it my 7 jumped to 165 but that was inconsistent too. So I’m going to try the 5:1 strike posture swing for the next month to see if I can hit it more consistently at the target and with the roll for distance. If my 7 would go 160 for me that would be a huge step in the right direction. I love the squeeze, bend roll sequence.

Jack, your are absolutely correct! That is the very best instructional book any one who wants to learn the game if golf needs! I completely change my game from 20+ handicap to 10 in a year! i recommend to anyone to find this book. It was actually a golf magazine that published Hogan's instructions and they made it into a book. Get it!

Mike is dropping some insanely solid information about the smaller but most crucial aspects to a great swing. I will say though, i think it will take you a little time to really grasp some of the info; as back when I was first learning my swing I learned pretty cut and dry basics to a swing for making solid contact. The stuff with having a natural draw and turning the forearms over in the backswing and downswing I didn't adjust to till probably a year into play. Hopefully learning it all at once though will help save you from some early faults you would otherwise have to break. Good luck and a suggestion I would have is maybe later in the series you could go from a video everyday to maybe little longer videos every 3 days or something. Sometimes resting and just thinking about your swing and going through the thoughts and process without a club in your home is when you get some the of the biggest eureka moments. Forcing yourself to just go hit can make you sloppy and instill bad mechanics when youre not properly in the right mindset!

11:10 A couple of things stand out as not quite right here: 1) Mr Wydra rotates his whole body, staying bent over rather than standing up to the finish, 2) on the downswing he moves his right hip forward rather than clearing the left hip which brings his body closer to the ball and leaves no room for the arms to swing into… Also, turning the arms over at impact to control direction requires perfect timing which often means wayward shots. I thought this this way of controlling direction was no longer taught? Mr Wydra, any comments please?

Go see Ed Lasater in San Diego he’s way better and way cheaper than this guy! He’s talking way too much, I’d literally give you a med ball and have you feel all of this and then tell you to make the same movement with a golf club! Please go see Ed Lasater
