23 and diagnosed 9 months ago. Attempting to reverse the disease naturally with healing whole food, detoxification of the body and a whole shit load of supplements! It is a debilitating and lonely disease. The gut and mind are directly linked so inflammation in the gut cause inflammation in the mind (anxiety, depression) and visa versa. Very tricky and so god damn painful. Flares seem like they may never end but the most important part is to stay positive and keep your mind calm and in a healing state. Stay healthy folks ♥️🙏🏻

You will get there, I have Acute pan U.C. Since 1993 when I was 16. I needed my 1st surgery in 2020, like you I ended up in I.C.U. with pneumonia & sepsis. I was in hospital for nearly a month, I.C.U. for 2 weeks. I am much improved now, exercise & good fresh food helps me. Unfortunately my dad died from cancer last year which has set off a flare in my remaining colon. I am waiting for a date for my J pouch. Even with how acute my U.C. is I got years of remission & achieved quite a lot. Speak to a Crohn’s & Colitus charity in your area they are good for up to date news plus treatments. It can be very overwhelming at 1st, but you will hopefully find a balance so u have good periods of remission.

Hey guys, it’s my 6th year as a 22 year old with UC. You should check out Jay Pravda’s research and spread it. I wonder what you’ll think about it, might be something valuable there. @almostaustin
@almostaustin 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Graham - So sorry to hear you are in the hospital. I know how scary and uncertain things can be, especially in talks about removing the colon. "Mental Strength" and "Optimism" can seem like shallow advice in light of feeling like your body is "betraying" you with nothing you can do to stop it on your own, but I'm convinced that attitude got me through the worst of it. Remicade works for a lot of people, but if for some reason it doesn't, something else will. For Remicade (in my experience), make sure you are hydrated, and if you can, try to eat something light before the infusion. I made a video on my experience with Remicade as well that you could find helpful.

haha - not with that attitude! It's true tho, from a clinical perspective at least. However, it's my personal belief that there is simply not enough scientific research on the gut microbiome and adjacent fields for this to be an objective diagnosis and outlook for IBD. I started with severe pan ulcerative colitis, and through meds and a dramatic change to my diet I am doing better. Whether or not changing my diet will be a long-term fix to manage the disease... idk, but "no cure" is a little near-sighted in my opinion.
