Category applies to "other" ServiceNow items like Incident, where kb_category is specific to Knowledge - unfortunately, they left category to be accessible by, and add confusion to Knowledge. Also unfortunate is the lack of permissioned access to kb_category. Since each Knowledge Base must have its own kb_category set, those who have multiple Knowledge Bases also suffer from multiple kb_categories.... often with the same name/same function.
