Those copper gutters are really The Most. And that’s to say nothing about the roof as a whole. I love this because I came in while the roof was maybe a quarter of the way done. Purnon is looking more like an appetizing wedding cake with fresh-from-the-garden blueberry icing on top.

Thanks for your message. We use one fire place regularly at the moment. We plan to make several more usable (often it just requires the chimney shaft to be thoroughly cleaned). But we don't plan to use all of them - we don't want large supplies of cut word being stored throughout the chateau and we don't want to degrade our fragile wall coverings.

Kudos to the DP that captured the clutch moment at 6:50! Feats of derring do all 'round, I'd say! And in general, throughout your retrospective, I find I'm marveling again at how much was just. hanging. on! ...when you came to the rescue. They really built that place "right" to begin with! But what a rescue! On the one hand, the damage was extensive. On the other hand, you could argue that repair was the right decision too, considered calmly. Big hunks of stone? Yes! But hey, not as bad as Notre Dame, eh?! And in some key measures you're adding your own layer of awesomeness and history: water and waste water were never really added -- you are doing it really for the first time, and for the entire estate, now that the incoming lines are squished! ;-) Same for electricity. And you've set a nice precedent for bathrooms in general, and I imagine, eventually, you won't go to an outbuilding for the oven or laundry! (Eventually... You'll get around to a modern kitchen I'm sure! ;-) By the way: did you get the shower up and running yet? I have lost track of the "en suite in the alcove"...? (That's how I think of it.) And I'm also really happy about your contributions beyond the estate: the wallpaper, the billiard table (and now the lamps discovery), and the archive of papers and legit history you've uncovered and conserved. There are ties to wider "French History stuff" all over the place! And thanks for sharing it. 🥰 Cheers, Russell
