1 Year Skate Progress :D

It's been roughly a year since I've picked the board back up again and it was the greatest thing I could have done. Kept me active during the height of the pandemic and allowed me to make many great online friends :D
I wanted to share a collage of my skate sessions that showcased my growth as well as the fun that's had while learning (falling).
Skateboarding at 340 lbs is a challenge that I am glad to have faced c:

I used to skate when I was younger and now I’m 32, 6ft tall 220lbs. I became an alcoholic for about 10 years straight and looking to get back into skating to help me get off the booze and better my health. Seeing this gives me so much motivation, I love it.

bro thank you for this video, Im at 340lbs right now too, back when I was in my early teens I got into skateboarding but people around me made fun of me cuz I was fat and called me a poser cuz I couldnt skate like them, I would just cruise around and get demotivated to even try to ollie cuz I was so convinced that I couldnt do it due to my weight, well Im 24 now and decided to save up for a setup and give it another go, your vid has inspired me so much man, the ending was sick too!

So far, I've come to like Real Boards + Krooked a ton. They've lasted me the longest - but landing bolts will help keep the board intact. I've ridden 8.25 after riding 7.5 - 8.5 and think it's a good spot for me :)

Hello Karl, first of all, congrats on your effort and obviously is paying back all the hard work. Im a big guy, 280 lb, and 6.1 ft, I used to skate when I was a kid, now I wanna go back, just ordered a board, good quality one, good trucks and wheels, my question is, what whould you recommend in terms of set up so it won't break as easily, that's my main concern, to brake the crap out of the board, many thanks for your comments.

Rafael! Thank you for the kind comments , hopefully you can shred just as much as you did when you were a kid. The biggest tip is to try and land bolts as much as you can - it should be the sturdiest part for the board. For setup, i would recommend Real, AntiHero, or Krooked boards as they typically keep up with my weight. Look into those "Riser" pads, i think they help absorb some shock and prevent vertical cracks along the boards too. Other than that, skate and skate and buy new boards :) i actually go through less boards then my skinnier friends so it all comes down to how you care for your board. Good luck!

Hey Jimmy, Hell ya. Keep it up and good luck with it. You've seen me use and abuse the boards in my video - I've only gone through maybe 3 during 2020 - 2021. As long as you land bolts you should be able to keep them pristine for a while. Definitely look into Real / Krooked, they seem to last me the longest. Also look into spacers for your trucks to your bolts - I think those had some part in keeping my boards alive for longer.

Yo! Heading into a local skate shop will be best, you can test different size boards to see how you would like it. I size 12 shoe size and am happy riding anywhere from a 8.0 to an 8.5. You can always check reddit.com/r/newskaters for help as well.

hey! to be honest, I might be putting a bit of a stop through my skating. I've noticed that my knees haven't been feeling as great once I started skating since I'm putting a lot of stress on it. I'm looking to lose weight through other means before I pick the board up again. I haven't made too much progress, but i've got other videos filmed, sitting pretty though. lol. Impressed you got around that whole park without pushing, learn to ride the board brah. It's not always about going in a straight line and manipulating it and sticking a trick. For instance nyjah is good at that but it is to my understanding his style is a topic much open to debate
